He is asking about hitting, meaning parents hitting their children.
There is no doubt, the Prophet ﷺ, the narration is hasan inshaAllah, meaning there is some discussion about it, but it is hasan inshaAllah, and it is: Command them to pray at seven and hit them for it at ten.
At ten, and what is meant by hitting here is disciplinary hitting, not hitting to cause pain, because the child is not yet accountable.
Rather, it is disciplinary hitting, the main goal is to encourage prayer.
And other things. So, hitting is originally allowed, for upbringing it is allowed, but by Allah, I want to warn about two things. The first thing: the type of hitting.
Because some people hit in a criminal way.
Some doctors told us, they said: sometimes children come to us.
They have burns, meaning the father or mother burned them with fire.
Or he hits him in a way that injures his eye, or breaks a bone, or cuts a vein or something, meaning severe beating.
This is revenge, not discipline at all. It is not allowed for a father to hit his son while he is angry.
Because the purpose of hitting here is upbringing. In our time, I mean,
and those my age and so on, before, if someone's father hit him, even if he went too far with the beating,
Where will he go? He'll go out on the street, sit there for an hour or two, then come back home.
Even if he was out on the street, if his neighbor found him, he'd hit him too and send him back home.
Where would he go? Now the situation is different.
Now, if he goes out, they catch him.
They take an apartment, drugs, girls.
Atheism, devil worshippers, terrible disasters.
A person needs to think a little. In the past, the community was small.
And connected, and everyone knew each other.
So things were very good, even if a child was hit, he had nowhere to go, he would return home. Now, instead of one place, there are many places.
And even now, the child himself is not like the child before.
The child before was naive.
He didn't know about the internet and things like, if your father hits you, do this, if you do this, do that. They teach evil from every direction. And that's not even counting what he sees in TV series and movies.
By Allah, this is sincere advice from the heart to fathers and mothers: fear Allah regarding your children, do not neglect them.
There is nothing wrong with hitting, but it should be for discipline, not out of revenge.
And hitting should not be the first principle, nor should it be the last.
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never hit a woman or a man except when fighting in the path of Allah, nor a servant nor a child.
Only in certain cases, so hitting is allowed if it is for discipline, there is nothing wrong with it, but hitting in a way that is.
Very severe and harmful to the children, to the point that sometimes the children hate their parents.
A boy called me once and said: My father hit me, hit me, and honestly, sometimes I say I want to hit him back.
He says, I want to hit him, but I feel shy because he's my father. He says, I could take him on, but I can't, he's my father.
But why do you let it get to this point? Why do you let it get to this point? Someone told me, he said, a father hit his son in front of me.
The son, mashaAllah, is taller than the father.
He said he hit him, so the son stood up wanting to hit his father back.
He said: We held him back. He said: Let him discipline him. He said: What discipline, this is your father.
He said: Don't you see, he doesn't respect me, this boy. So let us have taqwa of Allah regarding our children, let us have taqwa of Allah regarding our children.
And let us avoid hitting them as much as we can. Allah is the One whose help we seek.
