I am twenty-five years old, and I am upright and fulfilling my religious duties, praise be to Allah.
However, I feel that I am inclined toward showing off and seeking reputation in my actions, such as my prayer and other deeds.
And by Allah, this is against my will, and I persistently make du'a to Allah to free me from this affliction, but to no avail. My question is:
Am I considered someone who commits shirk with Allah? And am I considered like someone who deliberately shows off in his deeds?
Or does Allah, the Exalted, not hold me accountable since this is not by my own will?
I hope you will answer this question of mine, and guide me to what will save me from this affliction. May Allah reward you with goodness.
There is no doubt that showing off is an evil.
And it is shirk and among the actions of the hypocrites.
You must be careful to avoid it.
And strive against your own self until you get rid of it.
What is most fitting is for Allah, the Exalted, and obedience to Him.
So after that, do not despair.
Rather, continue making du'a and pleading to Allah.
Yes, thank you, and even any gift.
And calm your complaints, have sabr and perseverance in that until Allah grants you relief from it.
And from the traits of hypocrisy, as Allah the Exalted said: Indeed, the hypocrites try to deceive Allah.
And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily.
And you have only been given a little knowledge.
The Prophet ﷺ says, Allah the Mighty and Majestic says.
I supervise him. Whoever does a deed that I supervise, as he prepares it, I leave him.
He also says, peace be upon him.
Shall I not tell you what I fear for you more than the false messiah?
The shaykh said.
A man stands and prays, and he perfects his prayer.
Because of what he sees from those looking at him.
So strive against your own soul and be glad with good, and whoever strives, Allah helps him. The Exalted says: And those who strive for Us.
We will surely guide them to Our ways, and indeed Allah is with the doers of good.
If you strive against your soul in this path, be glad with good.
Allah has occupied your eye and your hand, the All-Hearing, the All-Powerful.
So do not despair and do not lose hope. Be patient and persevere, and your Lord is the source of help.
And I bear witness to the best of the Prophets, whom Allah promised.
The truthful and the righteous.
This is Shaykh Akhdar, and it is not something green.
It is minor shirk, as he ﷺ said, addressing the sahaba.
Did he not get angry.
In the name of Allah. what is it.
If you have been afflicted as others have, then you must have sabr and ask Allah for well-being.
It is not in the greater form that we have mentioned.
But it can be smaller, it preserves the deed and faces it.
Upon establishment, it nullifies it. If I say: perform a voluntary prayer, this voluntary prayer becomes invalid.
And if you perform it for showing off, its reward is nullified.
And leave it, focus on avoiding the forbidden. May Allah help you and make things easy for you. Whoever has taqwa of Allah, He will make a way out for him.
And He will protect him. Whoever has taqwa of Allah, He will make his affairs easy for him.
