Abu Yusuf, the zakat on one hundred thousand when a year has passed over it, can he delay it until Ramadan?

As for zakat, when it becomes due, it is not permissible for a person to delay it, but he may pay it in advance, because the Prophet ﷺ hastened the zakat of his uncle al-Abbas.

As has come in several narrations, this is the view held by the majority of scholars.

I say there is no harm in paying it early, and likewise, as for delaying it, the wealth does not belong to him, but rather to the poor.

So when zakat becomes obligatory on the wealth, he must take it out from his wealth and set it aside. Of course, some people say,

Regarding zakat, I am forced to delay it, and the reason for that is that he wants, for example, to give it to a poor person, and the poor person is not present.

For example, someone wants to send it to some of the poor and needy, or to those in distress, or for disasters that happen in some countries. What should he do in that case? We say he should take it out from his wealth.

It is narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, as came in the narration of Aisha and others, that he said: Zakat does not mix with any wealth except that it destroys it.

We say about this that mixing means a person takes it, while it is for the poor and needy, and then puts it with his own wealth.

This is not allowed, because if a person dies in this state, it remains in his wealth and remains a debt upon him, and it is the property of the poor and needy. A person may take the wealth of others, like the rich and so on, but how can you take the wealth of the poor?

Because as soon as the year is complete, this portion of his wealth becomes the right of the poor, so you must know that this is a mixture of the wealth of the poor in his wealth.

So you must hasten in this matter. It is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari that the Prophet ﷺ prayed the evening prayer with his companions, and when he finished, he entered his house.

Whether with Masluan, when he returned he said: Perhaps you wondered what kept me? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I remembered some gold.

I feared that it would remain overnight except with its rightful owner, meaning as charity.

And this charity, if its recipients are found, it must be given to them.

Not to be delayed. As for withholding the money just out of desire or laziness.

Or a person wants to give it whenever he feels like it, or wants to give it to a specific poor person, while there are many poor people available, we say he should hasten to.

give it, unlike, for example, a person, for example.

He wants to wait for someone in need whom he knows, like saying for example that he is traveling to Mecca and I will wait for him to return after a week or a month, or he is absent or something like that.

In this case, we say he should take it out from his wealth, have someone witness it, and clarify that this is from zakat, and then there is no problem for him.

Even if it is delayed, since it is set aside for that poor person and separated from his wealth, and Allah knows best.
