The shaykh spoke about using zakat for the expiation of Hajj. Yes.

As for giving zakat to someone who wants to perform Hajj, the scholars have differed on this issue.

In this matter, should zakat be given to someone who is unable to perform Hajj? Some said it is permissible, and others said it is not to be given.

It is not to be given to someone who is wealthy and self-sufficient, and who has no poverty or need except for going to Hajj.

So we say this is the most apparent view, that it is not to be given to someone who is unable to perform Hajj by others.

If he is wealthy and self-sufficient without going to Hajj, then he is not lacking except for Hajj, and that is because he is among the wealthy, and he is not included in the general statement of Allah, Verheven en Hoog is Hij: Charity is only for the poor and the needy.

That is because the sharia judges based on what a person needs in his current situation, not on what a person might need or what relates, for example, to his rituals and other matters. Otherwise, the evidence would have mentioned that.

As for charity, a person gives charity to those in need who fall short in performing that ritual.

To go, we say: this is a great act of kindness, and there is evidence guiding to it, and giving charity in this regard was done by a group of the sahaba. This was narrated from Abdullah ibn Abbas, Abdullah ibn Umar, and others among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and the followers.

So we say this is among the righteous deeds that are legislated, and Allah knows best. May Allah reward you, sheikh, about half a minute.
