In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. Honorable Sheikh, may Allah protect you, what is your opinion about those who follow the differences of opinion?
In matters of hijab and cite weak narrations, and refer to interpretations based on opinion, such as Tafsir al-Jalalayn by al-Suyuti.
And is this response sufficient for him?
May Allah reward you with goodness. Our answer to this is that we should know that the scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, differed regarding the obligation to cover the face
and the hands, but the most correct opinion, which is supported by the evidence and reasoning,
is the obligation to cover the face.
Whoever wants to learn more about this should refer to what the scholars have written on this topic.
Among the most comprehensive and extensive of these,
is the book "Return to the Hijab," which goes into detail and clarifies what is correct.
It is enough for a person with insight
to know the consequences of uncovering the face in our present time,
in terms of evil and tribulation.
Iman is weak, and desire is strong, because the youth have health and free time.
This leads to great harm.
As for those who see it as permissible and use weak narrations or flawed reasoning as evidence, their reckoning is with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
But I saw a statement from some scholars.
He said that hijab in this era
is obligatory by consensus, because those who said hijab is not obligatory
They made an exception if there is fear of fitna.
By uncovering the faces and hands. He said: And in this era, it is not possible to be safe from fitna.
Except if a woman is allowed to uncover by explicit text in the Quran, like the elderly women who no longer hope for marriage.
He says that the reasoning of the scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, in fact their consensus, is that if there is fitna, then the face must be covered.
This means that in these times, a woman must cover her face.
