May Allah reward you with goodness, here is a question, sheikh.

About the verse: "And his affair was in excess."

If our lives are wasted in regret, and our energies are driven by desires, then what is the reason and the solution?

As for this verse, it came in the context of desires, and when desires take hold of a person, they lead him on and unravel his resolve.

Success and guidance in that, for a person turns to.

Fulfilling his desires, so instead of fulfilling the desires of truth and obeying his Creator, the Exalted.

He obeys his desires, and so the bonds of his life unravel.

The days slip away and pass by, and he has not succeeded in any righteous deed. This is what is meant in this verse.

If desire takes hold of a person, he will not be granted success in pleasing Allah the Exalted, even if some people think he is successful in worldly matters.

When a person is granted success in worldly matters—his children, his offspring, his spouse, his wealth, his earnings, his clothing, his vehicle, his drink—people think he has succeeded in that. This is the life of this world.

But if he is deprived of the Hereafter, then he has destroyed his Hereafter.

This happens through heedlessness in following desires, because the soul desires pleasure—wealth, food, drink, sights, sounds, intimacy, and other things that a person enjoys.

So if a person pursues fulfilling his desires in all their forms, he will not find room to build his Hereafter, because a person's desires keep expanding.

He finds no limit to his clothing, no limit to his desires and his food.

He finds no limit to what he looks at, for if a person wants to look at beauty.

Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has placed among His creations ranks of beauty in nature and form that a person cannot reach their end, and likewise with names, even if a person starts with what is permissible.

So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has made it permissible for him, for example, to listen to poetry and chanting and the like, but he finds himself progressing until he goes beyond to what is disliked and forbidden.

So no song pleases him except that another follows it, and so on.

He finds that he does not stop in following his desires.

So he cannot restrain his desires in what he hears, wears, sees, eats, marries, and other things, so a person expands in such matters until he falls.

In the course of his life without benefiting from any of it, and this is the point: the more a person follows his desires.

It leads him to excess in his affairs and disorder in what builds his Hereafter, and for this reason Allah the Mighty and Majestic commanded both matters, so there is no monasticism in Islam.

Nor is it right to be so attached to the world that a person's life is consumed, rather a person should be balanced and follow the command of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.

As Allah the Mighty and Majestic commanded, and also do what is right and maintains his affairs.

And with it, he maintains his worldly life. This is the meaning of this verse, and Allah knows best. May Allah reward you, Shaykh, and grant you goodness. So, dear viewers, our episode has ended.
