What should a servant do if he is never able to leave a sin? He says, what should he do if he is absolutely unable.
How did the Prophet ﷺ say.
Avoid whatever I have forbidden you.
And whatever I have commanded you, do as much of it as you are able.
And it is known in the Sharia that you are not obligated to do what you cannot.
It is not possible that Allah forbids you from something while you are unable to avoid it.
It's not that I don't want to, you say I desire the sin, but don't say I can't, you can.
If you want, you can, and if you seek help from Allah the Blessed and Exalted and take the right steps, you can.
There is no one who can't, ever, but the soul that commands evil, bad friends, the devil, all these things definitely push toward sin.
But a person must keep going, try, and strive against himself until Allah the Blessed and Exalted saves him from it. As for saying "I can't," that's not true, you can.
If you rely on Allah the Blessed and Exalted and take the right steps, you can. Those who left sins and became upright and so on—the sahaba didn't say, "We can't stop worshipping idols."
And that's it, they just left them—no.
When a delegation came to the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him for Islam, they said: O Messenger of Allah, we cannot give up alcohol.
So, allow us to have alcohol, allow us to have alcohol because it is our drink. He said: It is haram for you.
They said: O Messenger of Allah, we cannot stop committing zina.
Our whole life is zina, so allow us to commit zina. He said: It is haram for you.
They said: O Messenger of Allah, allow us to deal in riba, because most of our wealth is from riba and we live off riba. He said: It is haram for you. There is no exception.
If someone says: I can't, no, you can. But rely on Allah the Blessed and Exalted, seek His help, Verheven en Hoog is Hij, take the means, and you will be able to, inshaAllah. And this is a similar question.
He commits the sin, then returns to it, and so on. He swears he won't return and makes a vow, then returns again. This is the case.
They didn't say, "The sustenance of the sandgrouse is upon the lazy ones."
So where do these poor, needy people get money from? From those who make these vows.
He makes a vow upon himself and doesn't fulfill it, so I pay.
I swore by Allah that I wouldn't commit the sin, but then I did it.
The poor, we warn you about this and those like him: do not swear.
But make du'a to Allah, the Verhevene, do not rely on yourself.
By Allah, I will not do it, by Allah. No, say: O Allah, help me, O Allah, assist me against myself.
O Allah, keep me away from sin, O Allah, purify my heart from sins, and so on, make du'a to Allah, the Gezegende en Verhevene.
At the same time, stay away from the causes of these sins, and even if you repent and return to them, what came before is forgiven.
Now with the second time, repent from it again, and so on, until you meet Allah, the Gezegende en Verhevene. You sin and die, but do not sin and despair.
