Honorable Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, may Allah grant you success, peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
We have heard in the fatwa program broadcast on the radio the voices of women asking questions.
But this is the first time that a woman's voice appears on the Quran radio station.
And we know that your eminence is among those who are keen, praise be to Allah, for goodness.
We would like you to clarify for us, and for those who may be confused about this matter, is a woman's voice considered 'awrah? And what is the ruling on broadcasting it after recording?
And what do you think, and what is the ruling on broadcasting it after recording? Broadcasting it after recording.
You may see that it is better for questions to be presented as before, through the program's presenter. May Allah grant you success and bless you.
The answer to this is that we say: a woman's voice is not awrah.
In the text of the Quran. Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said to the Mothers of the Believers.
The wives of the Prophet ﷺ.
So do not be soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease should desire something.
So His saying: and do not be soft in speech.
So His saying: Do not be soft in speech, meaning in your words.
For men, and there is nothing wrong with a woman’s voice being heard by a man, but without softness.
And likewise, women in the time of the Prophet ﷺ used to come to the Messenger ﷺ in his gatherings, a woman would come to the Messenger ﷺ in his gathering and ask him.
And the men were present, so there is nothing wrong with a man hearing a woman's voice, but the question remains: are those who listen to a woman's voice enjoying or taking pleasure in it?
The one responsible is the man who enjoys or takes pleasure in the voices of women.
As for the woman's voice in itself, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Also, most of the women who ask questions in this program are asking about issues,
fiqh-related, or about the tafsir of a verse or something similar, nothing that leads to fitna in any way.
Otherwise, we are, inshaAllah the Exalted, among the most keen to avoid anything that could cause fitna.
One question remains.
No, it is as it was before, as was known before.
Maybe he is sorting the papers, writing documents.
Messages come to the radio and are presented to the scholars.
There is no need to say that the woman listens to the broadcaster and then the broadcaster,
conveys her question to us, because this leads to taking more time.
The questions decrease in this program. The program used to be broadcast for only ten minutes, we asked them to make it fifteen minutes.
It is more spacious for the people, and today.
They called us and said: make it at the hour.
And it will be broadcast at five o'clock minus twenty minutes after.
After Asr prayer every Sunday and every Wednesday.
And, Allah willing, until Ramadan, every day at iftar time.
