A questioner asked: If he missed the funeral prayer, should he pray it directly at the grave or not?
If he missed the funeral prayer, he goes to the grave and prays, as the Prophet ﷺ did in the story of the black woman who used to clean the mosque. He went and the Prophet ﷺ said: Why did you not inform me? He said: Show me her grave.
So the Prophet went to her grave and prayed for her. So we say, if he missed the funeral prayer, he goes to the grave and performs the prayer for her and will be rewarded, inshaAllah. Is it different if it is an elderly man who has passed away?
What do you mean? He means: the funeral is for a child, for. It does not differ, the child is prayed over as the Prophet ﷺ did.
Walking in the funeral and riding are both allowed, and the child is prayed over. So the child is prayed over just as the adult, and the reward is the same, since it is called a funeral, and Allah knows best.
