He asked about repeating istikhara, is it recommended or not?
The narrations about istikhara have come, but nothing is confirmed from the Prophet ﷺ regarding repetition, so we say that the basic principle is that istikhara is done once.
However, it may happen that a person faces new aspects related to the matter he is seeking guidance about, for example.
For instance, a new characteristic, condition, requirement, or an old feature may appear to him.
Or perhaps a negative aspect has come up in some of the matters he wants to seek guidance about.
There is no harm in repeating it in that case, since the situation has changed in some way.
Some scholars see that there is no problem with that, considering that what concerns a person is the matter of istikhara in this.
It is a form of supplication before Allah, the Exalted, so it is legislated just as supplication is legislated, so from the perspective of its meaning, it has a basis, so from the perspective of its meaning.
It has its own reasoning, so we say if he wants to repeat it for some reasons, then that is preferable.
And if he wants to suffice with one time and increase his supplication in du'a during prayers, in voluntary prayers or otherwise, then we say this is more complete and closer.
However, one should not accuse of bid'a the one who repeats istikhara, and Allah knows best.
