He says: Is it a condition for a scholar to be endorsed by another scholar? We say regarding scholars, scholars and their knowledge, we say a scholar recognizes a scholar.
And it is necessary for students and also for seekers of knowledge or the general public.
To distinguish between a scholar and someone who is not, for not every student of knowledge is a scholar, and not every.
Not everyone who is called a shaykh, a scholar, or a preacher is a scholar, for this is something that needs to be distinguished. How does the layperson or the student of knowledge know that this is the scholar? We say.
There is no time except that among the people,
There are scholars among the people, scholars among the scholars, and this comes from succession, that the greater scholar clarifies the status of the scholar below him, and so on, and the matter continues in this way.
And this began with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for he is the leader and master of the scholars, peace be upon him. Then after him, his Companions inherited this, and then his Companions had followers.
The followers of the followers clarify their status, and so on. For this reason, one should be cautious.
One should be cautious about giving commendation, about commending someone who is not a scholar.
For anyone, because the caution here is that someone of lower status commends someone above him.
Likewise, a person commending himself, or an equal commending his equal—even if this is better than other forms, but we say,
that this is taken from the commendation of scholars based on their knowledge. Someone might say, for example, I have come to know about so-and-so what has become widespread among people and well-known among his peers, as well as among his equals.
I am among the people of knowledge and the like. This can be taken as a point of reference, this can be taken as a point of reference, and Allah knows best.
