Sheikh Muhammad from Tunisia, three questions, I will take two. Her second question: someone who does not pray in the mosque, she says he leaves the prayer out of negligence and prays at home, is his prayer accepted?
Regarding prayer in congregation, we say that the scholars have differed about prayer in congregation, and there are three opinions.
And this topic is lengthy, and we have spoken about it many times, but we say that what is most apparent from the evidence is that prayer in congregation is obligatory, and a person must attend it if he hears the call and is able.
And the Prophet ﷺ, as came in a well-known hadith, and it is in Sahih Muslim, when there was a blind man, the Prophet ﷺ said: Do you hear the call? He said: Yes. He said: Then respond.
And also what came in the hadith of Abdullah ibn Abbas, emphasizing this, that if a person hears the call, he must come to the mosque. There are similar meanings in the hadith of Abu Huraira.
About burning the houses and the like, but if a person deliberately prays while hearing the call and does not come to the mosque, is his prayer valid? We say: his prayer is valid but he is sinful, and he has missed the multiplied reward.
And preferring the individual over the group, and he is also sinful for not responding to the call. Responding to the call is a matter separate from the validity of the prayer, according to the majority of scholars. May Allah reward you with goodness.
