Our sister Nadia from Iraq says: Regarding du'a for those who are not performing Hajj on the Day of Arafah, is there a specific du'a?

It is not established from the Prophet ﷺ that he directed people to a specific du'a to say on the Day of Arafah.

What has come from the Prophet ﷺ, and it has some weakness in its chain, is that he said: There is no deity except Allah alone, He has no partner.

And he says: The best thing I and the Prophets before me have said is: There is no deity except Allah alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. So we say that saying the tahleel on such a day is among the virtuous acts, whether the hadith is authentic or not.

As for the virtue of du'a, we say the best du'a is the du'a of the Day of Arafah, considering that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, manifests Himself to His servants.

And He also forgives His servants in numbers that are not found on other days except for nights like this, such as Laylat al-Qadr and others.

So we say that such a matter indicates the virtue of this day.

As for what some people do, gathering on the Day of Arafah, either in mosques or gathering, a person devotes himself whether they are in a group or individually.

In one place, in mosques or prayer areas, and so they busy themselves with du'a and remembrance. We say: some of the early generations approved of this.

As was reported from Abdullah ibn Abbas in what Al-Hasan narrated from him, and also from Amr ibn Hurayth, that they used to be known for gathering on Arafah, meaning they would gather people.

They would give them admonition and also devote them to du'a, and Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, stated this clearly.

So we say regarding this, there is no harm for a person to devote himself on the Day of Arafah to du'a, or to stay in the mosque in retreat all day until the Day of Arafah ends, which is at sunset.

So we say at that point that the most correct view is that a person.

Should make du'a for his needs without specifying a particular du'a, whether he is in the mosque or dedicating himself at home, all of that is good.

Those who have a precedent and example in this, and Allah knows best.
