She has an apartment that she rents out, and likewise, he has a student apartment that he also does not use and rents out.
How should they deal with zakat in this matter? For example, regarding the income that comes to a person monthly or every six months.
Especially people who, for example, have some revenues that come to them daily, like daily furnished apartments.
Or hotels, or also some things that they rent out like cars that have a daily rental, or also some things that a person might rent out by the hour, such as delivery services.
Which could be for an hour or two and so on, these revenues that might start from minutes and end up lasting a year or years, these incomes.
How does a person purify his wealth? We say: he pays zakat on the money when he owns and receives it, after a full year has passed over it, not just upon receiving it itself. For example, a person receives income by the minute.
Or income, for example, by the day, by the hour, by the week, by the month, or similar to that. Is zakat due on it as soon as it is received? For example, if a person.
Takes a taxi for an hour and drops someone off, as soon as he receives the fare, does he pay zakat on it?
Or do we calculate it by the day, by the month, or otherwise? No, it is calculated by the lunar year.
If a year passes on the amount, and if a person uses up that amount, for example, by spending it on his needs, his food and drink, his family, or paying off debts, or using it for anything else,
then we say there is no zakat on it. What is subject to zakat is what remains with a person for a full year.
What is kept in accounts, savings, and stored wealth that a person possesses.
Then a year is counted for it by the person. The amount for that is about one thousand five hundred riyals in our currency or its equivalent, then after that the person checks if a year has passed over it.
He pays his zakat. If it drops below this amount during the year, we say he starts a new year after it increases and returns to that amount. But just by receiving it, zakat is not due until a year has passed over it. And Allah knows best.
