My father and mother bought us a house, and for the youngest brother, they registered their own house where they live in his name because they wanted someone to stay with them in the house.
After some time, the youngest brother sold the house without their knowledge, took the money, and traveled, and nine months later my mother passed away.
Out of heartbreak, and now he is contacting one of the relatives even though my father is still alive, but he does not visit him or keep in touch with him.
Now we have a situation we know nothing about, so what should we do?
Is this considered cutting family ties, should we keep in touch with him? I remind you by Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, you must keep in touch with him.
You must keep in touch with this son, even though what he did was a terrible mistake.
They wrote the house in his name so he could live with them, then he comes and sells the house as if he is throwing them out of their home, and we seek refuge with Allah.
He takes advantage of their need, and there is no doubt that this is sinful and not allowed. You must remind him, by Allah the Blessed and Exalted, that this action is not permissible.
Especially since the mother died feeling oppressed by this act, by this son.
So remind him of Allah and of the danger of disobedience to parents, and that his mother died angry. Allah knows best about his father's situation.
So he should be reminded of Allah the Blessed and Exalted. You must remind him and advise him, do not remain silent towards him, but if he continues as he is, then leave him.
But now, advice must come first, and Allah is the One whose help is sought.
