He asked about participating in a horse beauty contest and paying the entry fee to join.
Taking care of horses and being concerned with them is originally supported by evidence, and it is mentioned in the authentic narration that the Prophet ﷺ said: Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses.
Until the Day of Judgment, and the Prophet ﷺ also mentioned the virtue of those who keep.
Horses for the sake of Allah, and as the Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever keeps horses for the sake of Allah, their food, water, urine, and dung will be in his scale on the Day of Judgment.
On the Day of Judgment. This shows the virtue of horses and also the importance of caring for them, and what relates to competitions and interest in them.
Caring for them and looking after them, we say as long as this does not involve extravagance or arrogance, as long as it is not pride, showing off, or boasting, and also as long as it does not involve wastefulness.
This includes spending huge amounts of money on horses, especially if this happens during times of poverty.
And times of famine, when a person buys a horse for ten or twenty million or more, while this money could save starving and perishing countries, support vulnerable borders, feed the needy, and fill
gaps and deficiencies in the umma's needs, such as treating the sick and rescuing the perishing. So we say that a person is sinful for this, even if the original act was righteous.
Therefore, we say it depends on the person's situation. The basic principle in caring for and paying attention to horses is that it is a righteous deed.
And fulfilling the prophetic instruction ﷺ regarding caring for horses, their competitions, their beauty, and so on, we say this depends on the situation and the type.
Does it involve pride or extravagance? If it involves either of these, then it is forbidden. And Allah knows best. May Allah reward you well, so viewers.
