Honorable sheikh, how does a woman purify herself? How does a woman purify herself?
If it is her first time giving birth, and thirty days have passed after delivery, and the bleeding is still ongoing, then immediately after that,
yellowish discharge appears and continues until the fiftieth day, how does she purify herself?
We see that this woman,
if the bleeding stops,
she should perform ghusl and pray.
And she fasts, even if it is before forty days, even if there is yellowish discharge.
According to the narration of Umm Atiyya, may Allah be pleased with her: We did not consider yellowish or brownish discharge to be anything. This is the wording of al-Bukhari.
So if she purifies herself and prays, that is better. But if she makes up what she missed, that is good, and if she does not, there is nothing upon her.
But, Shaykh, the issue.
In your treatise on women's blood.
And perhaps there is a difference between menstruation and postpartum bleeding: if the blood stops during menstruation and then yellowish discharge returns during the time of menstruation, it is considered menstruation.
Is postpartum bleeding limited to forty days, or can it be more or less? The correct view is that postpartum bleeding can last up to sixty days.
Is that correct? Up to sixty days.
But if it stops before sixty, or before forty, or before twenty.
Then she should perform ghusl, pray, fast, and her husband may have relations with her, and there is no problem.
Even if after the blood, the yellowish discharge comes immediately without any period of purity? This is what we have seen, this is what we have seen recently.
That this is easier for women.
And some women tell us that the yellowish discharge stays with them for most of the month.
Some say the yellowish discharge continues until the next menstrual period.
