O people of Thaqif, Abraha the king has come to destroy the Kaaba, so what concern do we have with the Kaaba?
Thaqif only worships al-Lat, and I think that if we support the king Abraha, we will benefit from his favor and be safe from his harm.
So what do you say now that he is near us? I fear he might turn against us with his army, destroy the house of al-Lat, demolish Ta'if, and scatter Thaqif.
There is nothing I love more than the destruction of the Kaaba, and I wish to be his guide to Mecca.
So that he does not get lost in its slopes and valleys, and so I can keep him away from anything that might have been set up for him.
Quraysh and their allies from Kinana, Hudhayl, and the Ahabish, from ambushes in the ravines of the valleys and the mountain paths.
If I am given the command, I will be the first to attack the stones of the Kaaba.
In this way, al-Lat will be saved, Thaqif will be saved, and the Kaaba will be destroyed.
No problem, Barighal, no problem. If you think this will bring us closer to power and keep its harm away from us, then do as you wish.
Come on, let's hurry. Come on. People of Quraysh, you are the masters of this place.
I would not make a decision. This tyrant is half a day's journey from here, so if you want to fight,
then let us all rise together as one man and fight for the sanctuary until we perish.
And if you see otherwise, then consider what you are going to do.
Won't Huthayl and Kinana fight with us?
Yes, even if they wipe us all out. I fought Khath'am, some of Himyar, and Banu Abd al-Madan.
They did not benefit at all, and here are Dhu Nafar and Nufayl ibn Habib before Abraha.
The first is a captive.
The second, a guide.
A forced guide, so I don't think Khath'am and Himyar will fight against the people of the sanctuary.
They are my friends and allies, and perhaps when the battle heats up, they will be with us, not against us.
It has reached me, Lady of the Valley, that Thaqif and its leader Mas'ud ibn Mu'attib,
have agreed among themselves to support Abraha against Mecca.
No, rather I was told that Abu Righal
will be his guide and the first to begin demolishing the Sacred House.
May the curse be upon Abu Righal. If Allah enables me to reach this wicked man.
I will strike him with my sword in his innards. Woe to him.
If Al-Aswad ibn Maqsood wants to force us to become Christians, then what about Thaqif?
The Arabs will stone the grave of Abu Righal.
The Lord of the Kaaba has cursed him throughout the ages.
From.
My lord, the king, I am Mas'ud ibn Mu'attib.
Leader of Thaqif, O king, we are your servants, listening and obedient to you.
We have no disagreement with you, and our house is not the house you want.
Our house is the house of al-Lat, and their house is the Kaaba.
O king, what you want is the Kaaba, the house in Mecca.
I heard what you said.
What you said pleased me. Your tribe and those with you are slaves.
So who will you send with me to show me the way?
It is rough and dangerous. This is Abu Righal al-Thaqafi, he will show you the way.
Yes, my master, and I will take you through an easy path.
The people of Mecca cannot protect themselves from you there.
Or something might happen to your army that you fear, my lord.
Then, if you order me to demolish the Kaaba, I will do so immediately, my lord.
It's alright, Abu Rilal.
He ran gracefully, as if he hates this house.
Rather, I hate its people. They see themselves as masters over all the Arabs, but they are not worthy of that, my lord.
You will accompany me, Abu Rigal, so show me the way.
As you command, my master. And as for you.
Return to your homes. I have only come to destroy this House, the Kaaba.
I have nothing to do with anything else, and I did not come to fight the Arabs or anyone else.
But I am pleased with what I heard from you.
I will make use of you in the coming days.
Do you think we should set out now, Abu Righal?
Yes, my master, before the heat becomes intense.
The heat of Mecca is truly unbearable.
To Mecca then. And after Mas'ud ibn Mu'attib al-Thaqafi betrayed the House of Allah and its Kaaba.
He returned to his people, and Abu Righal stayed with Abraha.
To guide him on the way to the Kaaba.
On the way, the Arab tribes looked at Mas'ud with disdain.
And their poet said about him: "And the Thaqif fled to its refuge."
With the fate of the disappointed losers.
My lord the king, I suggest that you and your army camp at al-Mughammas.
It is a third of a farsakh away from Mecca, from there you can overlook Mecca.
The Kaaba will appear to you, and then you will rejoice at seeing its destruction.
You rushed to destroy it, O Abariqal. O my master, because of what I know of my master's desire, the king.
And my hope, my hope is in his satisfaction and closeness, O my master. You have a favor over us, the king will reach you.
O my master, I think we should hurry a little before the sun rises and its heat intensifies.
Then the mountains of Mecca will become like heated iron. Let's go.
O Namakka! O Namakka! Is this. is this. those coming to you! O Namakka!
Be careful, be careful! Abraha and his army. Hisham, you met Abraha.
What do you think he will do in Mecca? He came to destroy the Kaaba, and I don't think he has any other purpose. O people of Quraysh, this is the House of Allah and His sanctuary.
And you are the people of His sanctuary, and I do not think the Lord of the House will leave His House to this tyrant.
But I see another tyrant whom the Lord of the Kaaba will destroy just as He destroyed the tyrants before.
Before him, and now he is approaching. What do you suggest? What do you suggest, for the cavalry may overtake us while we are still debating.
Do what you see fit, O master of Mecca, for we will listen and obey you.
Come, Ya'mar, come, Khuwaylid. Where to, O master of Mecca? To Abraha. He might kill you.
If my death means the salvation of the Sacred House, then let Abdul Muttalib live.
Abu Talib, come with me.
Abu Talib, look at your brother Abdullah's wife.
My heart aches for you, Abdullah. She is in the last months of her pregnancy, so bring her closer and prepare the mounts.
And if the people are forced to leave, let her be safe. Batina, Amina is under the protection of all the eyes of Banu Hashim. So stay where you are needed and leave Amina and the children of Mecca to us.
And we will be saved by the intercession of this House.
Take with you a group of horsemen, and bring whatever livestock you find belonging to the people of Mecca. Go quickly and do not delay.
As you command, my master. O Abu al-Harith.
Do you think the fate of Quraysh in Mecca will be like the fate of Jurhum, so that we wander in every direction weeping for it until the end of time?
I do not think the Lord of the House will abandon us or abandon it for the purposes of this tyrant.
Here is the criminal welcoming us, my master.
I think the army should descend here, and that my master the king appoints whomever he wishes, and that he is with him.
By demolishing the Kaaba, and thus we will have accomplished what you want, my master.
O Hanata. My master's command. Go to Mecca and tell its leader.
I have not come to fight you, but I have come to demolish this House.
If you do not confront us with war, we have no need for your blood, so if he does not want to fight me.
Bring him to me. My master commands. O Allah, protect Aswad ibn Maqsud.
The thicket is where imitation happens, between Hira and Sabir, so it is delicious.
He keeps it, and they are the children of imitation, so thirst is added to black tomatoes. Forgive it, O Lord.
And You are praised. The tyrant has done it.
They have taken the sacrificial animals dedicated to the Sacred Sanctuary, which are the offerings of the people of Mecca, Kinana, and Hudhayl. Woe to them.
Are they seizing these animals dedicated as gifts to the Sanctuary of Allah? No, by the Lord of the Kaaba.
This tyrant intends evil. O master of Mecca, we will take it back.
We will take it back.
Set up my tent here, so I can look out over this house of idols and see with my own eyes how the elephant will attack it.
I will not enter it except as a pile of stones. As you command, my master.
Come on, get down, set up the tents here. Move, come on.
I am Hanata al-Himyari, the envoy of the king, O Abraha. Is there anyone among you who can show me the leader of Mecca? I am Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim.
The leader of Mecca. Come with me to King Abraha, for he has ordered me to do so. Come on.
Come on, Abu Talib.
What is it, Fatima? I am going to the house of Abdullah.
To be near Amina. What a distress this is. Yes, Fatima, a distress we hope the Lord of this House will lift.
I am also going to the Kaaba, for people are in a hardship like never before. O Lord of the House, what will happen to us?
Tomorrow morning, my master, you will send the elephant, and I will be with your army, guiding them to the vulnerable spot of the Quraysh's House.
Then it will strike it with its trunk until it collapses and is destroyed.
My master, the leader of Mecca has arrived.
Let him wait. Come on, you are judged! Confess, confess.
He is dead, my lord.
Take him and bury him. Guards!
Guards! Banu.
O Nufayl, is it possible that you would take part in destroying the Sacred House? What do you think, O Dhanab? This is a grave matter.
Himyar. Himyar will not do it, Nufayl.
And Kaf'am will not do it either, and tomorrow is near for the one who waits.
Who is this? Abu Righal.
The Arabs will surely stone you, and your grave will not remain. May the Lord of the Kaaba curse you.
Peace be upon you, O king.
Peace be upon you, O elder of Mecca.
Better, sit down. What is your need, O elder?
Your messenger informed me, O king.
You did not come to fight us. No.
Did we come to destroy your Kaaba?
We have no need to fight your soldiers, O king.
So is this dust then? Return to us our livestock and caravans that your soldiers took.
Because you did not come to seize wealth or to take provisions of camels and sheep.
They will be returned to you; we did not come for them.
But, O elder, I was impressed by you when I saw you.
Then I lost interest in you when you spoke to me.
You talk to me about sheep and camels and leave aside
a house that is your religion and the religion of your forefathers.
I have come to destroy it. Do not talk to me about it.
O king, you said that you do not want to fight us.
By Allah, we do not want to fight you either.
And we have no strength for this.
This is the house you desire.
It is the Sacred House of Allah, and the house of His khalil Ibrahim.
He has always defeated tyrants and subdued kings. It cannot be violated. Your word about the camels, because I am the owner of the camels.
And indeed, the House has a Lord who will protect it.
Was it to prevent me?
O Allah, the servant protects his property, so protect Your sanctuary.
O Allah, if the servant protects his property, then protect Your halal.
If you are leaving them and our direction of prayer, then do as you wish.
O people of Mecca.
Take refuge in the mountain passes and hills.
And seek protection there until we see.
Let it not be like the matter of Abraha the one with the mutilated ear.
People of Mecca, take refuge in the mountains and the valleys.
And seek protection there until we see what happens with the matter of Abraha al-Ashram.
And I do not think the Lord of the House will abandon His House.
O Allah, destroy Abraha as You destroyed the tyrants before him.
O Allah, destroy Abraha as You destroyed the army.
The tyrants before him, O Allah, destroy your enemies as you destroyed the tyrants before him.
Drive the elephant forward! Attack the Kaaba! Destroy the House!
Go back guided, for you are in the Sacred House of Allah. Do not destroy it, O elephant, do not destroy it, O elephant.
Your shouting.
Drive the elephant forward! Destroy the House! We have the elephant, O Anis.
Radio, my master, radio. Turn it back, away from the direction of the Kaaba.
Woe to you! Go forward! Go forward!
Go forward and destroy this House! Woe to you!
Spill this water! My master!
Woe to you! What are you doing?
Woe to you, O Aswad, don't you see the elephant refuses what you command it? Don't you see this is a sign from the Lord of this House?
Run, O sons of Khuza'ah! O leader of the people! O leader of the people!
The Arabs who supported her withdrew. May Allah reward them with good. May Allah reward them with good.
The Arabs who supported Abraha withdrew.
They broke their spears and swords.
May Allah reward you with good.
The Lord of the House defends.
The Lord of the House is haram, my sons. The Lord of the House defends His House, haram. And Allah sent against them the birds in flocks.
They were like swallows, and each bird had three stones: one in its beak and two in its legs.
They were the size of a lentil, and they did not strike anyone except that he was destroyed.
So they went out, falling along every path, and Abraha was struck in his body.
He fell, bit by bit, with pus and blood, until his chest split open to reveal his heart.
And he was like a slaughtered bird chick. In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant.
Did He not make their plan go astray.
And He sent against them flocks of birds.
They pelted them with stones of baked clay.
So He made them like eaten straw.
Allah the Almighty has spoken the truth. The elephant—He destroyed its army, they were pelted with rocks.
And the king in the farthest lands, among the non-Arabs and the Khazir, so listen when you are told, and understand how things turn out.
This is the outcome of matters.
Here I am, O Allah, there is no partner with You, here I am. Truly, all praise and blessings are Yours, and the dominion is Yours, there is no partner with You. Woe to you! Woe to you!
Where is the ruling?
Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am.
And I do not add to it. Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am.
They are the people of Allah. May Allah fight on your behalf and spare you the burden of His enemy.
Here I am, O Allah, here I am.
It is mentioned in the biography of Ibn Hisham.
That Amina bint Wahb, the mother of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrated.
That when she became pregnant with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it was said to her: O Amina,
You are carrying the master of creation. When he is born, say: I seek protection for him with the One from the evil of every envier.
Then name him Muhammad.
And she saw, when she gave birth to him, that a light came out of her.
In that light, she saw the palaces of Busra in the land of al-Sham.
O assembly of Jews, tonight the star of Ahmad has appeared on the day he was born, O assembly of Jews.
O assembly of Jews, tonight the name of Ahmad has appeared on the day he was born.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was born on a Monday.
On the twelfth of Rabi' al-Awwal, in the Year of the Elephant.
And it has come in the well-known narrations.
That the ruler of Persia saw in a dream difficult camels leading purebred horses.
They crossed the Tigris and spread throughout the lands of Persia.
And the fires of the Magians were extinguished for the first time in a thousand years.
And a sudden light illuminated the palaces of Busra.
And the narrations mention that a Jewish scholar from Yemen.
He had informed Abdul Muttalib.
When he saw him while he was on a trade journey there.
That prophethood would be in his house, from his descendants.
The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul Muttalib ibn Hashim, was born.
ﷺ, and his light filled the world.
O Lord of this House, ease the burden for Amina bint Wahb.
O Lord of this House, grant me pure offspring.
I await it, I sense it, and I protect it with Your mercy.
O Lord of the Kaaba, relieve Amina and her child.
My master! My master! My master!
What is it, Baraka? Good news, my master.
Give the good news, Baraka, give the good news, for you are a blessing in our homes, ahead of all others.
Amina, Amina has given birth, sir.
She gave birth? Gave birth to what?
A baby boy.
With wide eyes and a beautiful face.
A full and perfect moon.
He landed on the ground, leaned on his hands, and looked up at the sky. He is a moon, sir, a moon.
The skin. The skin, O blessed one.
He is the moon of Banu Hashim. All thanks to You, Lord of the Ka'bah.
All thanks to You, Lord of the House, Lord of the House, protect him and watch over him, Lord of the Ka'bah, shelter him with Your mercy.
Muhammad, Muhammad—I named him Muhammad so that he would be praised in the heavens and on earth. O Lord of the House.
Protect him and watch over him, he was born today.
Muhammad, son of Abdullah, son of Abdul Muttalib, son of Hashim.
O child, you have come as a mercy. How happy we are with your arrival.
O best of those who have come to existence as a greeting.
With you, they have come to guidance.
The Prophet who does not meet, does not meet.
Except the upright ones and those who are pure in faith.
Upon him is a light from prophethood shining.
And his guidance is clear.
He is in the sky.
His morning and evening are with Muhammad and.
O my son, by the Lord of the Kaaba, He protected His House.
So He defeated the Abyssinians, and He defeated their elephant.
And He scattered them.
And tore them apart completely, and now we have become.
The Arabs' honor as a tribe, they have spoken about us.
The people of Allah, may Allah fight them. You spoke the truth.
Where to, O Abd Manaf?
My father overlooks the people of Mecca as a speaker.
The season is approaching, and this year the Arabs will come like a flood.
The provision of food and water for this year requires the generosity of Banu Hashim.
Fatima. What is it, Abu Talib?
How are Amina and her infant son Muhammad?
Thuwayba nursed him, and Baraka is caring for him along with his mother.
And what a blessing Baraka is, as if she were his little mother.
How often he clings to her and calms down in her embrace, O Abu Talib.
Yes, Fatima, my heart longs for my infant nephew and yearns for him like a mother for her newborn.
By Allah, I never thought this would happen to me with anyone before this infant.
You know, Abu Talib, when I hold him to my chest,
I feel as if a breeze of fragrance passes through the pores of my body.
I miss him even when he is in my hands.
I do not know, Abu Talib, what kind of tranquility descends upon my soul when I see him.
A blessed soul, my nephew Abdullah.
Do not leave them, Fatima.
The sorrow of Abdullah will remain in my heart forever.
And I think this year we will witness crowds in Mecca like we have never seen before.
Come on, my son. We must inform the people of what we are required to tell them. Let's go.
O people of Quraysh.
You are the neighbors of Allah and the people of the Sacred Sanctuary.
And the pilgrims are the guests of Allah and the visitors to His House, and they are the most deserving of honor as guests, so provide them with food and drink during the days of Hajj until they depart from you.
O people of Mecca, if my wealth and the wealth of Banu Hashim were enough to feed the pilgrims, I would not have burdened you.
So this year, give what you used to give to Qusay.
And here I am, along with my cousins.
And my brothers are the first among the people in serving the pilgrims.
We feed them and give them water.
So none of them can say that they went hungry in Mecca.
O people of Quraysh, fear Allah regarding the guests of the Most Merciful.
Treat their elders well and show kindness to their young ones.
And honor their leaders. I see days coming when the Arabs will look to you as kings.
O people of Quraysh, your lineage, your lineage.
Because of your generosity, the Arabs will never put anyone above you.
The Arabs greatly revered the Sacred House, and the pilgrimage was a significant season for the tribes of the Arabian Peninsula.
It takes place in the sacred months, which they called the time when the spearheads are removed.
But during these months, they would lay down their weapons.
So they would not raid, seek revenge, or plunder, except for what came from the outlaws.
The Arabs used to offer many gifts to the Kaaba, such as gold, swords, vessels, and other things.
They would bring sacrificial animals and call them gifts.
They would hang signs around their necks and cut their necks and backs to show that they were dedicated to the Kaaba.
So no one would approach them, and they were among the rituals of Hajj.
Allah the Exalted said in His Noble Book.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. And the sacrificial animals, We have made them for you as part of the symbols of Allah.
There is good for you in them, so mention the name of Allah over them as they are lined up.
Then when they have fallen on their sides, eat from them and feed the content and the needy.
Thus We have subjected them to you so that you may be grateful.
Their meat and blood will not reach Allah.
But what reaches Him is your taqwa. Thus He has subjected them to you so that you may glorify Allah for what He has guided you to, and give glad tidings to the doers of good.
Allah the Almighty has spoken the truth. O people of Quraysh.
O people of Quraysh.
O people of Quraysh, the season of Hajj is approaching.
And we are the neighbors of the Sacred House, the Lord of the Kaaba has defended us.
And a group from Banu Umayyah has come to a certain opinion.
Before us. Speak, Walid.
Tell them, son of al-Mughira.
We are the descendants of Ibrahim and the people of the faith.
And the guardians of the House, the residents and dwellers of Mecca.
No one among the Arabs has a right like ours, nor a status like ours.
And the Arabs do not recognize anyone as they recognize us.
So it is not appropriate for us to honor anything from the surrounding area.
Just as we honor the Haram, if you do this,
the Arabs will look down on us and say,
They have honored something from the outside as they honor the Haram.
What do you think about that, Ibn Nawfal?
Young men from Quraysh, from its clans and families and branches,
came up with an opinion that became one of the rituals of our religion.
And we do not accept anything else.
And how is that? They are the Hums.
As you heard, Ibn Nawfal.
And what do they say? They say,
We must abandon standing at Arafah and leaving from it.
But it is one of the rituals. We know this, Ibn Nawfal. All of us know it is one of the rituals.
So how can we abandon a ritual from the days of our forefather Ibrahim and our father Ismail?
And will the rest of the Arabs continue to follow it after you have abandoned it?
Yes, it is one of the rituals and the religion of Ibrahim.
And all the other Arabs must stand at Arafah and depart from it.
As for us, we do not do that, because we are the people of the sanctuary, so we should not leave the sacred area. We are the Hums.
The Hums are the people of the sanctuary, and everyone born in Mecca has the same rights as we do.
And our allies and those under our protection have the same as we do, and Kinanah and Khuza'ah have joined us in the way of the Hums.
Have you heard what the Hums have innovated in the rituals of Hajj? I have heard, and their matter has become widespread among Quraysh.
They are pleased with this boasting, but there are other matters besides standing at Arafah.
And departing from it. Is there anything else they have innovated?
They say it is not proper for a Hums to eat dried curd.
Nor to ask for ghee while they are in a state of ihram.
And he does not enter houses made of hair, nor does he seek shade except with leather while in the state of ihram.
And they say it is not proper for the people of the open land to eat food they brought with them from outside the sanctuary when they come as pilgrims or for 'umrah.
And he does not perform tawaf when he arrives for their first tawaf except in the clothes of the Hums, and beyond this, O master of Mecca.
If a Hums man from Mecca is generous and gives a poor Arab pilgrim clothes to perform tawaf in,
he must take them off and throw them away after finishing his tawaf, and he cannot benefit from them after that, so they become lost property.
This is bid'a, O Waraqa, we have never heard of it before. And why is this, O master of Mecca? They will impose their way on all the Arabs by force.
Woe to them, do the naked circle the Sacred House, men and women?
I do not approve of this, O master of Mecca. I do not approve of this. And they say it should not.
Our nephew has a document, he is skilled in writing and reading.
He is acting devoutly, and I think he is right. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, before the revelation, was against the Hums.
He did not share their view, because of the honor Allah had prepared for him.
And the upright Islam abolished what the Hums had innovated.
Allah, the Exalted, said in His Noble Book.
Then depart from where the people depart.
And seek forgiveness from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
