The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, before the revelation, was opposed to the Hums.
He did not share their views, because of the honor Allah had prepared for him.
Islam, the upright religion, abolished what the Hums had innovated.
The Exalted said in His Noble Book,
Then depart from where the people depart.
And seek forgiveness from Allah; indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
And He, the Exalted, said.
O children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of prayer.
And eat and drink, but do not be excessive.
He does not love those who are excessive.
Say, who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has brought forth for His servants.
And the good things of provision? Say, they are for those who have believed in this worldly life.
Pure on the Day of Judgment.
Thus We explain the signs for people who know.
How is your goat, Halima?
By Allah, not a drop remains. How can that be? And our journey to Mecca, we have nothing but a little fresh milk and this skinny she-camel.
And the donkey that can barely stand on its legs, and your children are starving.
What should I do, Harith? What should I do? One harsh year after another, she took the meat and started pounding it with the bone. The udder has dried up.
And hunger has settled in our homes, and woe to us from the hunger of the deserts, Harith. I have prepared everything to travel to Mecca.
Here are the women of Banu Sa'd getting ready to depart, so come on.
Maybe we will be fortunate to find a baby from a wealthy family of Quraysh, and this season the roads are safe. And my sons, Harith, you will leave them with your mother and take the baby.
Perhaps the Lord of the Kaaba will grant us a baby from the infants of Mecca, and what is given for him will help us in these harsh days. O Lord of the Kaaba, what should I do?
Fatima, my grandson Muhammad.
He is your grandson, the son of your son Abdullah.
O Hala, you and Amina are from our cousins, Banu Zuhra. May Allah raise you both in the son of Muhammad.
How I grieve for Abdullah; he died before reaching twenty-six. And how I grieve for Muhammad.
He was orphaned while still in the womb.
He came into the world while his father was already in the grave. Woe to me for the infant orphan. Woe to me for Amina.
She did not complete a year with Abdullah, and she was still in the prime of her youth. Have the wet nurses arrived?
I fear for him the disease of Mecca. He has not come to us yet, but these are their days.
I will look for a wet nurse for him as soon as the wet nurses arrive in Mecca.
So that he becomes healthy and strong. May Allah bless you, Abu al-Harith.
You do not show affection to your grandson or take care of him.
O Abdullah.
By Allah, ever since my grandson Muhammad came, I have felt mercy spreading in my soul and my body together.
Now mercy has begun to spread among all of Banu Hashim.
Bro.
Aren't you from Banu Sa'd? Yes, I am Halima bint Abi Dhu'ayb from Banu Sa'd ibn Bakr.
And this is my husband and cousin al-Harith, and this is my nursing baby. My son Muhammad is an orphan; he lost his father while he was still in the womb.
By Allah, I truly wish for you to nurse him, for he is a blessed child.
Take him and nurse him, for by Allah, I wish for him to be nursed among Banu Sa'd. He is an orphan, my grandfather, so what should I do with him? I fear for him from the epidemic in Mecca.
And by Allah, I cannot bear to be separated from him.
But he must be nursed in the desert, according to the custom of the Arabs from the towns.
Until he grows up and becomes strong, and you will find good from us. Why do you move the orphan, uncle?
We are a poor people in a barren land, year after year we are struck by hardship, which destroys bone and flesh.
So there is not much with us, nor do we have fat or meat. Calm down, my son, calm down, I entrust you to the Lord of the Kaaba. Is he your son?
Yes, my son Muhammad is an infant. Take him and nurse him, so they will become brothers.
By Allah, I do not wish to upset you, for you seem to be a noble and generous master, but what can I say, uncle?
Look at my son, he is crying from hunger. He has nothing in his hands to satisfy him, and I don't know what to do.
Go ahead, may you find what you hope for.
Woe to me for my son, how hard and harsh is being an orphan.
Where are you going, Halimah?
By Allah, I do not hate to return among my companions without taking his infant. I will go back to that orphan and take him.
Do it, Halimah, perhaps Allah will place blessing for us in him.
Wait for me, I will go to my mother and bring him, so I can hold him with my brother, and Shayma will hold him with me, so he will be raised again among Banu Sa'd.
I am waiting for you.
Great blessing.
I know why you are crying.
Take Muhammad, my master.
Halima bint Abi Dhuayb al-Sa'diyyah took him.
To nurse him in the land of Banu Sa'd, far from the epidemic of Mecca.
He will grow up, become strong and healthy. Don't you want him to grow up with a sound and healthy body?
Yes, I would give my soul for him.
But I miss him.
I wake up at night and don't find him.
I will cry, and Amina will cry.
I miss him, sir. I miss him.
We all miss him, my daughter, we all miss him.
Yes, by the Lord of the Kaaba, we all miss him, and we shed tears for his father.
O Abdullah, the one who was ransomed. The one buried in beautiful Yathrib. O your nursing child.
O Abdullah. I do not know for whom I should weep.
For Abdullah or for his orphaned son.
But be patient, O family of Abdul Muttalib. Be patient.
O Allah, mother.
Nothing made me take him except that I found nothing else, so when I took him, I returned with him to my place, and when I put him in my lap.
He turned to me, moving his lips, and then he drank until he was satisfied, and my child drank with him.
Then the husband of Harith went to our she-camel.
Its udder was full of milk, so we drank until we were satisfied, and we spent the night in goodness.
You know, by Allah, Halima, you have taken a blessed soul.
Remember, Harith, the day we left with Muhammad while I was riding on our thin donkey.
Suddenly, it sped up and overtook the entire caravan.
It could barely carry us, to the point that my companions said to me: Isn't this the same donkey?
I said it is, and they said to me: It surely has something special about it.
Drink, Halima, drink, mother of Ikrima.
Then we arrived at our homes from the land of Malaysia.
It turned green, and I had never known a land of Allah more barren than it was before I left. Yes, Harith, do you remember, Umm 'Ikrimah?
Yes, I remember. After we arrived with the boy Muhammad ibn Abdullah.
My sheep would go out to graze with my children.
They would come back full, their udders filled with milk.
So we would milk them and drink, while none of the people of Sa'd could get anything from their own sheep.
They would say to their shepherds: Take them out to graze.
He goes out to graze where the children of Halima al-Sa'diyya go out.
He is a blessed boy, by Allah. Where is Muhammad? He is with his brothers herding the sheep.
He has reached his second year, and I have weaned him.
Halima, the boy is an amana with us.
And it is time to return him to his family.
I know, Harith, and I am not pretending to be strong about parting with you.
And I do not wish for his mother Amina to agree to him staying with us for more than two years.
I am more concerned than you, Halim, but what must be done, must be done.
What did you say about my brother Muhammad?
My daughter, we will return him to his family. I know, Harith, how much his siblings will grieve for him.
Especially Shayma.
She cares for him very much.
The signs of my virtue have returned, yes, the orphan, wherever his provision is increased.
In my hands were noble qualities of great character, people would visit because of them and be passionate about them.
Generosity.
O Harith! You have returned with Muhammad.
Where is Muhammad? He is with Huda, tending the sheep. How did Amina agree to let Muhammad return with you, Halima? It is Allah's kindness to us, Harith.
My father! My mother! My brother Muhammad! What is wrong with him? And Muhammad!
You have come to me, my son, and I was about to come to you. Come here.
Did you understand something, my father?
It is a secret, and I hope you do not tell anyone about it.
A secret. What is this secret, father? About what? About your nephew Abdullah.
Muhammad, and I feel sad for him, the only orphan.
You know, Abu Talib, that he speaks the truth.
Remember, my son, when you were the head of the Quraysh delegation to the king of Yemen, Sayf ibn Dhi Yazan, when he defeated the Abyssinians.
And he gained control. Yes, I remember, father, I remember. It was a remarkable day. And what he told me was something tremendous.
I must tell you about it, for death is one of the ways of this world.
I do not know when I will die, my son. May Allah prolong your life, father. What is it?
The king honored me and showered me with many gifts.
He gave me many times more than he gave the leaders of Quraysh.
The people envied me, and I used to tell them: Do not envy me for the king's gifts.
Rather, envy me for something that will appear later.
What is this matter, father? I have not told anyone, my son, I have not told anyone. Keep it.
And work on making her carry his trust, just as I did in my life.
I do not have the strength for sabr, father. I am your son and you know me. Tell me. May you be blessed, my son.
When I was with the king, just the two of us in his gathering.
He said to me: A boy.
He will have a sign. He will be born in Tihama. The kingdom will belong to him until the Day of Judgment.
He will be the Prophet of this umma. He was born and will be born after a while.
His father and mother will die, and his grandfather and uncle will take care of him. This is what our hidden books say.
So I asked the king, and what does this have to do with me?
And he said to me: He is from your lineage, O Abdul Muttalib, he is from your lineage, so take care of him.
And protect him from the Jews and from your people, for they will try to kill him, but the Lord of the House will protect him from them.
And now I am sharing this secret with you.
So make sure not to tell anyone about it, especially the leaders of your people.
Could it be him? These are his signs. These are his signs, Abu Talib, so take care of Muhammad.
Watch over him as long as you have a blinking eye.
My kin, this is my advice to you, so do not forget it.
And I do not think you will neglect the advice of Abdul Muttalib. No, Abu Lahab, I will not neglect your advice as long as I am alive, and I will sacrifice myself and my family for him.
Rejoice, my father, rejoice, O leader of Quraysh.
May you be blessed. This is what I hope from you, O hero.
This is my hope in you. So we rushed to him, O Abu al-Harith.
And Shayma was screaming: My Qurayshi brother, my Qurayshi brother.
So we asked her in fear: What is wrong with him?
She said: That is my Qurayshi brother.
Two men in white clothes took him, laid him down, split open his belly, and they are striking him.
So al-Harith and I went out, and there he was, his face pale.
I hugged him, and my husband al-Harith hugged him too.
We asked him, "What is wrong with you, my son?"
He said to us, "Two men came to me wearing white clothes, they laid me down and split open my stomach."
And they searched for something, I don't know what it was. So we took him back to our tent, and I said to Halima, "I fear that this boy has been harmed, so return him to his family."
Before anything appears on him.
And one day, some men whom I did not know came, and they looked for certain signs in me.
