The noble Companion Abu Dharr al-Ghifari was from the tribe of Ghifar.
They used to block the roads and rob caravans, then they accepted Islam.
As we know, the teaching is that Islam erases what came before it, so what is the ruling on a sinful Muslim?
The one who steals from people, then.
He takes money, he loots or steals money from banks, then repents. Are these rights dropped from him, or how does he return them when he does not know their owners?
Leave aside the issue of forgiveness for a matter even clearer than that.
Urwah ibn Mas'ud.
Urwah ibn Mas'ud.
He is well-known and from Thaqif.
And one of the prominent men of Thaqif, he says: And about him, Allah the Blessed and Exalted revealed regarding Quraysh, that they said: Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a man from the two towns?
He was great, a man of status among his people and among Quraysh.
Urwah ibn Mas'ud al-Thaqafi, he is the one who came and spoke to the Prophet ﷺ at the beginning of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.
Urwah ibn Mas'ud, when he came to speak to the Prophet ﷺ, they say.
This is in Sahih al-Bukhari, of course, and as he was speaking to the Prophet, he put his hand on the Prophet's beard, meaning as a gesture of.
friendliness, he was talking to him and holding his beard, the beard of the Prophet ﷺ.
Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba was wearing something like a helmet on his face.
So he struck the hand of Urwah ibn Mas'ud with the handle of his sword, he hit his hand like this.
He said, "Take your hand away from the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, or from the beard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, do not touch it."
And 'Urwah ibn Mas'ud was the elder of Thaqif.
And al-Mughira was from the people of Thaqif.
So 'Umar ibn Mas'ud was, of course, surprised. He used to visit kings, and someone hits him with a sword like that.
He was surprised and said, "Who is this, O Muhammad, who struck me?"
How am I an Arab from Mas'ud? He said, "This is your nephew."
Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba is your son. He says: this is your son, from your brother.
This is your nephew, al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba. He said: what a betrayal.
He said: what a betrayal, I have endured so much.
Your atrocities, or as he said, because Amr ibn Mas'ud, al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, when he became Muslim, he had killed people and stolen.
Their wealth, then he came to the Prophet ﷺ with this wealth, and he said: as for your repentance, I accept it, but as for this wealth, I have nothing to do with it.
The Prophet ﷺ did not accept it from him, so the point is that if a man repents, if a person repents.
And he has people's money with him, he must return it to the people.
But if it does not belong to specific people.
For example, it was old interest money, or gambling, or.
Let's say a forbidden stock market or anything like that, this is his property, and that's it, Allah the Exalted has accepted his repentance. But if the owners of this money are known.
Then we must return it to them, and Allah knows best.
