On Twitter, someone asks: What is the authenticity of the hadith about the du'a for entering the market?
The hadith about the du'a for the market: It is reported from Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. Al-Tirmidhi included it in his Sunan from the narration of Salim ibn Abdullah.
Ibn Umar from his father from his grandfather, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and there is also a difference regarding its chain of narration.
In its narration from Salim ibn Abdullah, the hadith is rejected. Abu Hatim al-Razi and a group of hadith critics rejected it, and I do not know of any of the leading early critics, nor from among the memorizers,
who considered it authentic. Therefore, we say it is rejected and not established from the Prophet ﷺ, even if some later scholars considered it good or authentic. Allah knows best.
