Peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you.
The hadith of the Messenger ﷺ: If a woman dies while her husband is pleased with her, she will enter jannah.
The apparent meaning of the hadith is that if a woman dies and her husband is pleased with her, she will enter jannah.
Does the hadith mean that if a woman dies and her husband is displeased with her, she will not enter jannah? Is this correct?
First, I do not know this hadith.
But if this hadith is authentic, the meaning is that a woman treating her husband well so that he is pleased with her is one of the reasons for entering jannah.
And the reason may not apply because of the presence of a barrier.
This is an issue we must understand; sometimes texts come to us.
Regarding promises and encouragement.
For example, whoever does such and such will enter jannah, and similar things.
The meaning is that this is a reason, and the reason may not apply.
Because there is a barrier that prevents it.
For example, it is authentically reported from the Prophet ﷺ: There is no servant whom Allah puts in charge of a group and he dies while deceiving those under his care, except that Allah forbids him from entering Paradise.
That means he is prevented from it, but there may be a reason.
There may be something that prevents this warning from taking effect.
And that is if Allah forgives him, for Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whomever He wills.
In that case, he does not deserve this warning.
So we must know the difference between something being a cause that may not take effect due to the presence of a barrier.
So we say, if this narration is authentic, the meaning is that if a woman dies while her husband is pleased with her.
This is one of the reasons for entering jannah, but she may not enter jannah because of it.
She may not enter jannah because there is something else that prevents it.
But it is confirmed from the Prophet, peace be upon him, that if a woman spends the night.
And her husband is angry with her, then Allah, the Exalted, is angry with her.
Meaning if she spends the night, not if she dies, if she spends the night and her husband is angry with her, then Allah is angry with her.
