Someone asks, or is asking, about the ruling on buying gold through the internet, meaning that they.
That is, a website offers to sell gold and deducts from the credit card, and certainly there is no hand-to-hand exchange in this matter.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May Allah send prayers, peace, and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions, and those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment. To proceed.
As for buying gold through the internet, or also through cards.
We say that it is a condition in selling gold that it must be exchanged hand to hand.
And this is what has been established from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he forbade selling, or said: gold for gold, equal for equal, hand to hand, meaning it must be equal and exchanged hand to hand.
It is not permissible to have any excess or delay in it, meaning it cannot be deferred.
This applies to the original amount and also to part of it, so a person cannot keep any of it; they must be equal and immediate.
As for buying gold online, for example, when a person buys gold through the internet.
Even if the possession is in the money, but he has not taken possession of the price, only the item.
And as for the gold, he has not taken possession of it, and the same applies to credit cards.
So we say in this case, it is not permissible to buy gold in this manner. But if he wants to buy something that contains gold but is not gold itself.
For example, like some items, such as certain ornaments or some devices.
That he buys, like a mobile phone that contains, for example, a gold piece.
Or, for example, a woman buys a watch that is not gold but contains
gold, like if its hands are gold or something similar. In this case, it is said to be permissible, since the gold is not the main purpose, and it is not the basis of the sale or purchase for either party. And Allah knows best.
