She stays in her house and does not leave for forty days.
When this period ends.
Or she holds a gathering, meaning she slaughters a sheep and invites the women from the neighborhood.
And the one who does not hold a gathering distributes meat, rice, dates, or fruit to the people of the neighborhood.
But she stays in her house, she does not go out, and she does not allow her husband. No, she does not go out to visit people, I mean.
Around her, like the mourning period. Yes.
As for making it obligatory to start, this is not correct.
And there is no evidence for it, not from the Book, nor the sunnah, nor the statements of the scholars.
As for her staying away from her husband, people might need that.
People become fearful, thinking that if she goes out during the postpartum days,
and her husband desires her, that intimacy might occur between them.
Because every couple who can control themselves during this period, especially if he is young.
But if she left this habit, it would be better.
Meaning during the days of exhaustion and severe hardship, which are the early days after childbirth.
There is no problem if she stays with her family, because they are more gentle with her than others, and so that the husband does not pressure her into something that would tire her.
But if she recovers from her hardship, she should go to her husband, because the husband has the right to enjoy her in any way he wishes except for intercourse.
So why should he be deprived of her? As for the issue of intimacy after the postpartum period ends, there is nothing wrong with it; this is permissible affection.
Because mourning gatherings are of three types: one type is forbidden, like the mourning banquet.
This is a banquet of sorrow held by someone who has lost a loved one, where he invites people to it.
This is either disliked or forbidden, and that is correct.
Another type is required by the Sharia, which is announcing the marriage.
The Prophet ﷺ said to Abdur-Rahman ibn Awf: Hold a wedding banquet, even if it is with just a sheep.
That is because the banquet is part of marriage.
It requires making it public and announcing it, and announcing the marriage is among the prescribed matters.
The third category, apart from that, is permissible.
Like the wedding feast after a woman finishes postpartum bleeding, or for circumcision, or for moving into a house or similar occasions.
