Our brother asked about the ruling on naming oneself Taha and Yasin.
And he asked about what relates to the names of the Quran. We say: the names of the Quran are many, among them are those for which there is evidence for their permissibility, and the umma has agreed and united upon them. For example, there are the sooras, for example in soora.
For example, Muhammad, Yunus, Hud, and Salih, and others in soora Yunus, Hud, and Ibrahim.
And likewise in soora Muhammad and other sooras, there is evidence for them. So we say: what there is evidence for its use in the time of the Prophet ﷺ, then it is used.
As for what was not a name for a specific person, but was specific to a soora of the Quran.
What was specific to a soora of the Quran, we say that what relates to naming after a soora specific to the Quran, a person should not name himself with it, and the reason for that.
The fact that a specific surah of the Quran is given a particular name.
This includes calling out with that name.
And this may include mockery or perhaps insult or something else, so if that happens, if that happens, it is likely to be assumed that it will happen.
In this matter concerning the Quran, for this reason more than one scholar has prohibited it, and Allah knows best.
