There are questions about pictures, photography at parties and elsewhere. The basic rule regarding photography is that it is haram, this is the foundation.
Because the Messenger ﷺ cursed the woman who plucks eyebrows and the one who has them plucked, and the one who tattoos.
And the one who gets tattooed, and he cursed those who make images. Narrated by al-Bukhari from the hadith of Abu Juhaifa, may Allah be pleased with him.
He ﷺ said: The people who will have the most severe punishment on the Day of Judgment are those who make images.
He ﷺ said: The makers of these images will be punished on the Day of Judgment, and it will be said to them, "Give life to what you have created," and other things that have been mentioned.
In the narration, scholars have taken from this the prohibition of making images, and as for three-dimensional figures that cast a shadow, this is agreed upon by consensus.
The scholars have differed regarding what has a shadow, such as images, cups, rags, and similar things, but the majority are also of the opinion that this is forbidden.
Based on the general meaning of the hadith and its indication of prohibition, and this is the correct view. Now, the hadith is general, but exceptions are made for cases of necessity.
For example, photographing criminals in order to fight them and pursue them.
That is, it is prevented from.
Except for Muslims. What is meant by cases of necessity is, for example, photographing certain diseases.
Specific cases that doctors want to identify in some deceased people, and also what relates to.
A person's photo, if it is required for citizenship or if he is denied education except with a photo.
For necessities and needs that are similar to compulsion, so if he is not given citizenship, identification, or an academic certificate except with a photo.
This is considered compulsion or a case of necessity, and in the past,
I used to hesitate regarding images on this television.
Where images are broadcast, images of lectures and seminars.
I used to feel uneasy about that, and I was not pleased with its presence during the lecture.
Then it seemed to me that doing this would be for the general benefit of the Muslims, so that they could benefit from the seminar or lecture.
What is expected in this context is that its benefit would be more widespread.
If taking photos is allowed for identification cards and the like, which is an individual benefit and an individual need,
then it is the same for needs whose benefit is widespread, and interests whose benefit is widespread.
For this, I do not see a strict prohibition.
Recording seminars and lectures whose benefit reaches the Muslims through television and similar means, this is the aspect.
Playing in this way and not stopping it, and the issue has another aspect from another perspective.
But what seems closer and clearer to me now is that what was.
Concerns the public interest is greater and more significant than what concerns individual interest in its following and the like. We ask Allah to grant everyone success, yes.
