This is a message from our brother in Allah, Abdullah Al-Sulaiman from Riyadh.
He says that some girls imagine.
That a menstruating woman becomes impure, so she is not allowed to remember Allah or listen to the Quran, and instead turns to listening to music and entertainment.
We ask for clarification of this ruling, and what is also permissible for a menstruating woman?
This is an illusion that should not be believed. For the menstruating woman, it is prescribed.
To do what others do, such as remembering Allah the Mighty and Majestic, glorifying Him, praising Him, declaring His oneness, and magnifying Him.
Seeking forgiveness and repentance, listening to the Quran from a recording, listening to knowledge and participating in study circles, listening to what is broadcast.
From study circles, Quran circles, and benefiting from that.
Like others, the Prophet ﷺ said: The menstruating woman should do what the pilgrim does except that she should not perform tawaf around the House until she becomes pure. He instructed her to do what the pilgrims do: reciting the talbiyah and remembrance.
All the prescribed acts except for tawaf.
This indicates that she and others, leaving out generalization in the Prophet.
She remembers Allah, glorifies, praises, declares His oneness, seeks forgiveness, meaning she does everything except tawaf if she is in a state of ihram for Hajj or Umrah, she does not perform tawaf. Likewise, in her home she uses what.
She is able to remember Allah the Mighty and Majestic, to say tasbih, tahmid, tahlil, takbir, and to seek forgiveness.
Calling to Allah, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, teaching knowledge, and studying narrations.
Other than that, as for reciting the Quran, there is a difference of opinion. Some say she is prevented from reciting the Quran, and others say she is not prevented from reciting the Quran from memory, and this is the closer and more apparent view.
That is, no, she should not recite the Quran except from memory without touching the mushaf.
If she is a teacher teaching girls the Quran from memory.
And the one who needs to recite the Quran without touching the mushaf as well. The correct view is that there is no harm in her reciting it from memory, because the period of menstruation is long, and likewise postpartum bleeding.
The one in a state of major impurity does not recite the Quran, but we clarify this apparent issue until he performs ghusl.
Because the Prophet ﷺ would not recite while in a state of major impurity, peace be upon him, and because the one in this state, his time is short, he can perform ghusl and recite in any situation, there are no obstacles for him.
But the menstruating woman needs days, and this is not by her choice, and likewise the woman in postpartum bleeding, her period is even longer.
Is it correct that there is no harm for her in reciting the Quran? Allah is in her heart. By this you know that the menstruating woman participates in all good deeds, and is not prevented except from.
Except, she is only prevented from prayer, for she does not pray or fast until her menstruation or postpartum bleeding ends, then she makes up the fast but not the prayer, because she is not required to make up the prayer.
He said: Allah hears her, He heard the menstruating and postpartum woman regarding prayer, so she does not make it up and it is not required of her during menstruation and postpartum bleeding, but fasting.
She makes up for it after she becomes pure, after Ramadan she makes up the days she missed. 'Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, was asked.
She said: O Messenger of Allah, O Mother of the Believers, why does she not make up the fasting but not the prayer? 'Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, replied.
Here, we do not command them to make up the fasting nor do we command them to make up the prayer, meaning that the Prophet ﷺ used to command them to make up the fasting but not the prayer, and with this.
It is known that fasting is to be made up, but prayer is not to be made up, and this is a matter of consensus among the Muslims.
The scholars are agreed that prayer is not to be made up for women in this case.
But they only make up the fasting, meaning the fasting of Ramadan. The conclusion is that the menstruating woman and the woman in postpartum bleeding are prescribed to remember Allah.
And saying subhanallah, praising Him, declaring His oneness, saying Allahu akbar, attending circles of knowledge, listening to the Quran, and reciting it.
Being persistent in that, and participating in it for good, except that she does not pray until she becomes pure, does not fast until she becomes pure, and does not read the Quran from the mushaf.
As for reciting from memory, it is allowed for her according to the most correct opinion of the scholars, especially when there is a need. Yes.
