Sister Muhammad says that she heard a fatwa, and the summary of what she asked about is removing the excess hair from the eyebrows. She says she heard that.

Islam forbade namas, which is removing the hair completely. That's what I heard, sheikh.

As for me, I would say it is forbidden, and the evidence for that has been established from the Prophet, peace be upon him. This came from the narration of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud.

And it also came from the narration of Abdullah ibn Abbas and other Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

And it was also reported as a statement from a group of the early generations, and it was not established from any of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, that he said namas is allowed.

And we say that what relates to this and its confirmation is definitive, and the narration is authentic.

Its prohibition came with severity, as the one who does it is cursed.

As for some people who take lightly certain things, perhaps because they do not understand their religious reason.

We say to some people, and this can be found in those whose certainty in Allah the Mighty and Majestic is weak and who do not comply with His command.

This is because he says: these are just minor symbols, what is the reason for their prohibition, and what is the wisdom behind Allah the Mighty and Majestic prohibiting them.

We say that this matter—searching for the reason and linking obedience to Allah the Exalted and High to understanding the reason, or not obeying when the reason is not understood—

We say this only comes from weak certainty in Allah the Exalted and High, and it is what destroyed previous nations.

And if we look at the people of Salih, they slaughtered the she-camel, even though they did not understand the reason. What is the reason? That they would be destroyed over a she-camel, when camels like her are slaughtered every day.

And we say in such matters that if Allah the Mighty and Majestic commands something, and the command is authentic and the evidence is clear, then it is not permissible for a person to go against the command of Allah, the Verhevene.

That is why Allah, the Verhevene, says in the Noble Book: It is not for a believing man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, to have any choice in their affair. So a person must obey the command of Allah, the Verhevene, whether the reason is clear to him or not.

As for the text, we say it is about plucking the eyebrow hair.

And does the same ruling apply to trimming with scissors, or also with razors or the like?

So is the reason for this clear or not clear?

We say by this that the reason is in removing what the Lawgiver has prohibited, according to the majority of scholars. Some scholars, regarding trimming, differentiate between trimming and plucking.

They differentiate between trimming and plucking, and said that plucking in this matter, regarding plucking, is more severe than trimming, and trimming in this matter.

That it is disliked, and this was mentioned by Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, and it does not appear that trimming has the same ruling as plucking, because the reason in this matter.

That the reason in this matter is the same, and for this we say it is forbidden. As for the claim that the Sharia has approved this, we say that the Sharia has not approved it, and there is no evidence for its approval, especially with the existence of a clear text; no one's opinion can override that.
