What is the ruling on women visiting the grave of the Prophet ﷺ?
Some scholars believe that women visiting the grave of the Prophet ﷺ is not considered a visit.
Because there are three walls between us and the grave of the Messenger.
And visiting the deceased is when a person stands at his grave.
Based on this, it is not considered a visit.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya, may Allah have mercy on him, pointed this out.
As far as I know, regarding his statement that if the cemetery is fenced off, or there is a wall between you and it, your visit from behind the wall is not considered an actual visit.
Some scholars answered the statement of the jurists, may Allah have mercy on them, in this way.
It is recommended to visit the grave of the Prophet ﷺ, even for women.
They said this is not the real visit.
Because between the person standing outside the chamber and the grave,
there are three roots.
As for custom, it is called a visit, no doubt, and it is said: a woman visited the grave of the Prophet, so we see that out of caution,
she should not visit the grave of the Prophet ﷺ.
She should suffice with sending peace upon him even from afar, because Allah, the Exalted, has appointed noble, trustworthy angels
who receive the greetings from the umma and deliver them to
they convey them to the Messenger ﷺ.
As for a woman's visit to other graves.
It is haram, in fact, it is one of the major sins.
Because the Prophet ﷺ cursed women who visit graves.
And those who take them as places of worship and put lights on them.
Except if she passes by the cemetery.
And she stands in front of the graves and makes du'a, then there is nothing wrong with that.
Because she did not leave her house for the purpose of visiting, so she is not included in the hadith.
