He says he is asking about the story of the woman who said: "Wa Mu'tasimah," a famous story.
He sent armies for her and Amorium was conquered. This story is very well known among people, but it does not have an authentic chain of narration.
It is very famous, but it does not have
an authentic chain that al-Mu'tasim sent, but the fact that al-Mu'tasim conquered Amorium is established.
That is why Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, was among those whom al-Mu'tasim tortured regarding the creation of the Quran.
The claim of the creation of the Quran, or saying the Quran was created, this disbelief was started by al-Ma'mun.
Then after him came al-Mu'tasim, then after him al-Wathiq. All of them claimed that the Quran was created and forced people to accept this, and al-Mu'tasim.
He tortured Imam Ahmad, imprisoned him, and flogged him.
He would even lose consciousness from the severity of the beating, and blood would cover his body.
May Allah be pleased with him and have mercy on him. It was said to him: Will you not supplicate against al-Mu'tasim?
He said: When I remember the conquest of Amorium,
I refrain from that, I do not supplicate against him. I said: I remembered the conquest of Amorium, I do not supplicate against him.
So the fact that al-Mu'tasim conquered Amorium is established, but did he conquer it because a woman said, "O Mu'tasim!"? This is not established, and Allah knows best.
