Among the questions that are often repeated, and since one thing reminds us of another: what is the best of the three types of pilgrimage? As for the types of pilgrimage, we cannot say that there is an absolute preference.

For the types of pilgrimage in general, so that a person is in a state of pilgrimage in any form or situation, and it is preferred to be performing tamattu', qiran, or ifrad.

But we say that in most cases, tamattu' is better, but qiran may be preferred for the one who brings the sacrificial animal. So whoever brings the sacrificial animal, then qiran is better in that case, and likewise.

Sometimes ifrad can be better from one aspect, which is when a person comes before the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah.

Then he performs 'umrah and stays in his place, and if he remains in his place, he performs hajj as ifrad, and that is the best.

Some scholars have reported the consensus of the four imams on this, as Ibn Taymiyya, may Allah have mercy on him, and others have mentioned, and also that if a person does not bring the sacrificial animal.

His situation is not like that of a man who is in Mecca and has stayed there; for him, performing hajj alone is better than being a mutamatti', as it is better in his case.

The same applies to someone from Mecca, if a person is a Meccan.

If he is residing in Mecca, then performing hajj alone is better for him, because 'umrah is not obligatory for Meccans.

It is not required according to those who say it is obligatory, and some have said it is not even recommended in principle, and that the sunnah.

For them is to perform tawaf, that they make tawaf and pray two rak'ahs without performing a complete 'umrah.

A group of scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, held this view, and Ibn Abbas stated this, and it was also narrated from Ata ibn Abi Rabah and others among the early generations.

They do not make 'umrah obligatory for the people of Mecca, and they say that for them, performing hajj alone is preferred. In that case, we say that for the person from Mecca, it is better for him to perform hajj alone, but as for tawaf, he may do as much of it as he wishes.

In that case, we say that for the person from Mecca, tamattu' and qiran are less preferred for him. Based on this, we say.

There is no single ritual that is always the same for every individual and person in all circumstances, which is preferred over others in every aspect. And Allah knows best. May Allah reward you, sheikh.
