What is meant is that this world deceives only those who are deluded. It is not a place of bliss, nor a place of permanence, nor a place of eternity, but rather a place of trial and test.
It is a place of hardship and sorrow, a place of deeds, and a place to prepare for the Hereafter for those who understand.
The believer, the rational person, should not be deceived by it.
And he should not become like most people, who eat as cattle eat, and the Fire will be their abode. The rational person must pay attention and know that this world is a barrier.
It is not as it appears, but it is a place created for something else.
Not for staying, but for passing away. It was created so its inhabitants would do what they should do and prepare what they should prepare, and it is not the home.
It is not a place for permanent residence, nor is it a home where its people enjoy pleasures without hardship. Rather, it is a place filled with difficulties.
It contains troubles, sorrows, and then after that comes disappearance, mercy, dissolution, and its people move on from it to another place.
Then the Exalted clarifies that wealth and children are adornments.
The adornment of this life—wealth and children are the adornment of the worldly life. So a wise person should not be deceived by wealth, no matter how much it increases.
Nor should he be impressed by whatever types of luxury, status, prestige, and happiness he attains, for these are only means to an end.
The same goes for children, even if they please him, protect him, or strive for his interests.
And their end is death and disappearance, and they may even become enemies in the end.
They might harm him, cause him trouble, and seek ways to destroy him, so one should not rely on children, even if they are an adornment in this world, but they may later become.
Deceitful towards him, a source of misery and hardship for him, and a cause for his destruction and punishment, especially at the end of times, in this era, when Islam is a stranger, and when knowledge is scarce, and when.
Desires and whims prevail, and for this reason, He said after that: But the enduring good deeds are better with your Lord for reward and better for hope.
The enduring good deeds are nothing but righteous actions, nothing but obedience to Allah and His Messenger.
Of remembrance, prayers, fasting, striving, enjoining good, forbidding evil, and other such deeds.
These are the lasting good deeds, what a person offers in this world of obedience to Allah and His Messenger, according to the types of acts of obedience and goodness.
Among these are saying Subhan Allah and La ilaha illa Allah, as mentioned in the narration: the lasting good deeds are Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, and La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. What are the lasting good deeds?
These remembrances and those like them are among the lasting good deeds, and the lasting good deeds are broader and more comprehensive.
May Allah grant everyone success, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah.
