Islam al-Jazairi says: They are praying in a place that was originally prepared to be a place for wudu until the main mosque is built, so what is the ruling on that?

As for mosques, we say there are two types of mosques. One type.

The place of prayer, and the place of prayer, but its land is not dedicated or reserved for the mosque.

So every place where a person prays, it is a mosque, like a woman who prays and takes a corner in her house to pray, so that is her mosque.

And this is included in one of the meanings of the saying of Allah, Verheven en Hoog is Hij: And the mosques belong to Allah, so do not call upon anyone besides Allah. So we say: mosques are places of prayer; some said places of prayer, and some said places of sujud, so this meaning is included.

And the second type is mosques whose land is dedicated for building mosques.

So these take the rulings of mosques, regardless of how they are built.

Whether they are built from wood, or from stone, or also from plastic or something else, or if they are tents, or if they are tents and their land is dedicated as a mosque.

Or also from metals like sheet metal and the like, mosques are built, and if the land is a mosque, it takes the ruling of a mosque, and it does so from two aspects.

From the aspect of prayer in it, and also from the aspect of the adhan, from the aspect of i'tikaf, and also the scholars' disagreement about the issue of a person in a state of major impurity passing through, and also for a menstruating woman, and similar issues that apply to it.

In his statement: there are places attached to a mosque on dedicated land, but they do not prevent people from praying in these places, we say: it is a prayer area.

But this place does not have the sanctity of the mosque, meaning it does not have the same ruling regarding someone in a state of major impurity passing through.

Nor does it have the same ruling for a menstruating woman, nor does it take on the acts of worship like i'tikaf and other matters, until the mosque is established and it becomes part of the mosque's land, then it becomes a mosque. And Allah knows best.
