O people of Quraysh, how long will you remain patient with Muhammad?
You have seen his companions increasing and not decreasing.
The season did not end before his mention spread among the Arab tribes, and you thought that words, debate, and argument.
Would suffice instead of action. Has the time not come?
To put an end to his claims and his companions, so we can have relief and be at ease.
And if we confront Banu Hashim about it? Yes, by Allah, the time has come.
You only agree with me at first so you can disagree with me in the end. We know your opinion.
I agree with you on some points, and I disagree with you on others.
As for the first strike, its time has come, and I am the first to carry the staff and the voice.
But. But.
Woe because of "but".
We do not fight Banu Hashim directly, so that we do not cause division among the tribes of Quraysh. It is only Muhammad and his companions from all these tribes.
So it is more appropriate for every tribe to attack the Muslims among them, harm them, imprison them, and make things difficult for them.
Or that they return, and in this way, none of you will look at his brother's face and say: This is an attack on my brother or my cousin.
So he would be overcome by tribal pride, even if he disagreed with the religion of Muhammad.
Start with your own households. If you do this.
Then you have protected yourselves. As for this, there is no harm.
Today you have been just, O Umar. Yes, you have been just, but.
Did it not occur to you that maybe he is seeking something for himself through this religion?
Wealth, power, possessions.
Women. Should I go to him then and speak to him, and offer him some things—maybe he will accept some of them?
So we give him what he wants, and he will leave us alone.
If he does not accept, do whatever you want.
Father.
He went out to speak to the Messenger of Allah. That is it, my father, and I have hurried to you with the matter.
O Muhammad.
Are you better or is Abdul Muttalib?
If you claim that these are better than you, then they worshipped the idols that you worshipped.
And if you claim that you are better than them.
Then speak so we can hear what you have to say.
By Allah, we have never seen anyone bring more harm to his people than you.
You have divided our group, scattered our unity, and criticized our religion.
By Allah, we are only waiting for something like the cry of a pregnant woman, for some of us to rise against others with swords until we destroy each other.
O man, if you have a need.
We have gathered for you from our wealth so that you may become the richest man in Quraysh.
And if you want kingship, we will make you our leader.
And if what you seek is women,
then choose whichever women of Quraysh you wish, and we will marry you to ten of them.
I feel.
I swear by Allah, Abu al-Walid has come back with a different face than the one he left with. And I swear with you, what happened to you, Abu al-Walid?
What happened is that I heard words the like of which I have never heard before.
By Allah, it is neither poetry, nor soothsaying, nor magic.
O people of Quraysh, obey me and leave this matter to me.
And let this man be, and let him continue with what he is doing.
So leave him alone.
By Allah, what he says will surely have a great consequence.
If something good happens to them, then you have been spared from it by others.
And if he prevails over the Arabs,
then his rule is your rule, his honor is your honor, and you would be the happiest of people with him.
By Allah, Abu al-Walid, he has bewitched you with his words.
This is my opinion about him, so do as you see fit. By Allah, my father spoke the truth.
If you insist on rejecting what Muhammad brought.
Then at the very least, listen to your father's opinion. Disbelieve. Which of us has rejected the other's religion?
Does your father's opinion and your father's religion really matter to you?
Then why don't you sit with us and join us in planning against our enemy?
I heard that you are a man of opinion.
And this is Salim with you as well.
How much we need Salim's opinion.
Perhaps he will find a way out for us from what we are in.
Muhammad has truly overwhelmed us.
Tell us, Salim, what should we do about Muhammad and his Companions?
We will make them hungry, we will make them thirsty.
Should we strike them or expose them in every gathering? Enough, Abu al-Hakam. Why don't you say Abu Jahl?
Just as Muhammad teaches you. And what you say, Abu al-Hakam, don't you know that Abu Hudhayfa has accepted Islam, and with him his companion and khalil?
Salim, his son, the son of Al-Adari! No, Al-Tadari, O Abu.
You know he has become my son. I know you claimed him as a son.
But his real father who gave birth to him, no loyalty.
Rather, I am ignorant as he is ignorant. Certainly, the journey of the Messenger of Allah when he was like Abu Jahl, and you truly ignore the truth and call to ignorance. Did you hear, people of Quraysh?
If you do not honor any of us, then at least honor your elder, Abu al-Walid.
By Allah, he had no need for your trouble. Stop, Abu al-Hakam, or you will hear from me what will upset you. In fact, something worse than your own disgrace.
When I surpassed your fathers in my eyes, I will surely expose your patience.
And I will surely disgrace your opinion, you and your sons. May Allah disgrace you, enemy of Allah, you wicked, obscene, foul-mouthed man. Rather, you are the rebellious, disobedient, foolish one. That is enough, Abu al-Hakam.
Have you forgotten that he is my son? Remember, you are his father, so keep away from this.
By Allah, you used to know that he believed in Muhammad a long time ago.
And you used to hide it, so if you are unable to turn him back.
Then we will protect you. No one will harm him except that I will rub his nose in the dirt.
And Salim, he is not your son.
So will you not leave him to us? Whoever becomes a son to my son, I become a grandfather to him.
Do you not hear, people of Quraysh? Abu al-Walid does not want to give us any of his children.
Or his grandson! He is pleased to find in one of the houses of Abd Shams a flaw to attack with.
It is not your fault that you attack your brother Salama ibn Hisham.
And your maternal brother 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah, and he has accepted Islam.
Why do you hide from these people what you hasten to hide from me?
Set your own house in order first, then look at the houses of others.
What? Keep your hands off me, may Allah cut them off! Abu al-Hakam.
Did you order them to do this? Now is the time for truth. Have you both left your religion?
Did you both hear?
Yes, we have accepted Islam, and all praise is due to Allah.
This is what we do with our fools who have left our religion.
And this is our nature, even if they are our brothers and our sons.
Until they return or respond.
Come on! against these two fools!
I incite against Muhammad and his companions, and among them are two men from my own family.
No, I will start with you two first. That is so that none remain.
So that the descendants of Hashim and Abd Manaf do not have an argument against us.
Your two khalils and companions, O son of Khattab, if you think they would accept humiliation, hunger, and thirst, then speak to them.
And show us the strength of your argument.
Does this please you, O Umar? You brought this upon yourselves.
By Allah, I do not mind what I am going through now.
But what can be done with you except that you go back? By Allah, we will not do that.
That day, in the open area of Mecca.
When you were talking about Muhammad.
And claiming that you heard it from some of his Companions.
And that talk about the king of Persia and Rome, and Islam reaching the farthest West and East.
And that Muhammad, while distinguishing between truth and falsehood, gathers people into his religion.
By Allah, I truly began to doubt you.
Then I defended him and pushed him away. I said: His brother Abu al-Hakam would not do that.
And his uncle al-Walid ibn al-Mughira, and I am his companion and close friend.
So your status remains, you will be my close friend in Islam just as we were in the time of ignorance.
And it will remain. How can I remain your close friend when I have entered the religion of Muhammad and I was among the most hostile people to him, and you say.
That he distinguishes between truth and falsehood, then you see yourself upon the truth and me upon falsehood, so how can we be together after this?
Listen, O Umar, by Allah, you are more intelligent than me.
And you have a purer soul than I do, and you are more truthful in speech than I am, and truly you are a man of honesty and good character.
Your outward and inward self are equal, and all noble manners have come together in you.
And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say.
I was only sent to perfect noble character.
And I heard him say: People are like mines of silver and gold; the best of them in the time of ignorance are the best of them in Islam if they gain understanding.
And I have tested your nature, and it is like pure gold.
And I hope that your mind, heart, and character will only lead you to good. If you understand Islam, you will become a leader in it as you were before, or even greater and higher.
And we have become your followers, and all of us are followers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, your words are so similar to those of my brother Zayd.
Whenever he wants to get something from me, he starts by flattering me with words like this.
I am not so naive as to be deceived by sweet talk. If you think I will help you in this ordeal, then give up hope in me.
By Allah, I will not do it until you return, and I will certainly do to people like you from Banu Adi what Banu Makhzum did to you both.
Oh morning! Come to me, Banu Adi.
Come to me, Banu Adi. Listen to what I have to say, Banu Adi.
The time for resolve has come, and the flood has reached its peak.
We can no longer be patient after today.
With those among us who have left, and the leaders of the people have agreed.
That every tribe should attack anyone among them who has entered the religion of Muhammad.
And I am responsible for you, so whoever I find has left our religion,
and has divided our unity, I will surely punish him with a severe punishment.
And do not treat him the same as him.
I do not differentiate between a brother, a cousin, a sister, and the rest of the men of 'Adi.
And its young men and women.
And its servants, slaves, and maidservants.
If Muhammad ﷺ makes his Companions equal,
and brings together the lowly and the noble on the same level,
and claims that they are equal in rights.
So I will surely not treat equally those among you who leave our religion.
And I will indeed gather them together on a plain, but it will be the plain of punishment.
Which they have deserved and earned with their own hands.
And I have warned you all equally.
So they shook off.
Do you have eyes with which you see?
Look at them.
And do you have ears with which you hear?
Then listen attentively, and this is just a drop from the ocean.
Or like the beginning of a poem, standing at the ruins, mentioning and expressing longing.
We have not yet reached the goal.
So whoever wants to join these fools,
let him do so, and I guarantee that I will make him wish for death.
And he will not meet it until he destroys himself.
Muhammad warns us of a postponed hellfire.
The hellfire is here!
Hell is now.
Immediate, without mercy.
Eternal, never ending.
And this is not just news; it is reality and something witnessed.
Hearing about something is not like seeing it with your own eyes.
Look at them, these are the kings of Persia and the Levant.
As Muhammad promised them. You refused the curse, O kings.
Command me and I will obey.
May I be sacrificed for you. And you.
I will drive away the flies from you with ostrich feathers, my master.
I am coming to you, my lord.
With reddish wine, clear and delicate.
As if it were the light of a lamp, right?
Your servant, my master, passes by and obeys you.
And you, my lord.
Shall I call some of the girls to play the duff for you?
And they will dance to the rhythm of the tanbur.
And they will recite some poetry of Al-Munkhal.
And I pushed her, so she pushed back.
The cats walked to the pond.
I love her and she loves me, and my camel loves her she-camel.
I have never seen kings like these before today. They turned away from the world.
And they preferred asceticism, even though the treasures of the earth were brought to them.
Or. Or maybe I am not good at serving kings.
So they turned away from it and from me.
So, do not count, Abu al-Hakam.
You have witnessed.
So let whoever has reason take heed.
And listen attentively.
And do not return to me kings like these.
Indeed, Mecca has become too narrow for its kings.
Bilal!
Water, quickly.
They were patient.
Be patient until Allah brings you relief. Should I not stop you? Should I not stop you?
By Allah, I will not leave you except out of weariness.
Take them and detain them where I have commanded you.
Put chains on their feet, and do not feed or give them drink except what is enough to keep them alive and prevent death.
And you are not helping me.
You have done enough, my brother, O Umar. I will not be satisfied until I carry all of 'Adi on my head. With the stick? For whoever disobeys.
He did not follow the one I know.
And which Umar do you know? Umar who once told me about the camels: manage them together and care for them individually as if they were some of your own children.
Umar who also said: doomed is the one who thinks he can win a war by losing his morals.
Umar about whom I once said: he has such determination that even the strong oppressor fears him.
And such tenderness of heart that the weak hope for it and the needy find comfort in it. And you forgot Umar who loves his people and hates their division, their turmoil, and when people dare to wrong them.
So if he is harsh, it is for discipline, deterrence, and reform, and I take firmness.
He may be harsh to those he has mercy on, and sometimes a punishment brings about righteousness, and retribution prevents looming injustice, and a death gives life to souls.
If people did not fear each other, the earth would be corrupted, and people would consume one another.
There is no power and no strength except with Allah. True words.
If it were revealed in a place.
He granted me a male child, and I am among those who praise You.
Do not rush before the midday heat intensifies.
The midday heat, where is that servant? Bilal, I ordered him to prepare himself to go out with us, to carry our belongings and gather our game.
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
O Allah, because of the blessings You have given me, do not place me among the wrongdoers, and save me from the actions of the polytheists.
O Allah, I am weak, so strengthen me, and suffice me with You against Your creation. O Allah, refuge of the oppressed, I have turned my back to You and relied on You.
I have relied on You and sought Your help against every stubborn tyrant.
I believe in Allah as my Lord and in Islam as my religion.
And in Muhammad as a Prophet and Messenger.
O black sheep.
You believed in Muhammad and did not follow my command?
I do not seek permission in the matter of my Lord. And since when has the Lord belonged to the slaves?
Other than the lords of their masters.
Then call upon your Lord to avert the punishment from you.
Hold on, I will make you hear something that the Arabs have never known before.
I will test my Lord with a punishment that will come to me from you, so that He may know my truthfulness.
So I will show patience the likes of which the Arabs have never known.
And what punishment can you inflict on me compared to the punishment Allah will inflict on you.
And you respond to me, son of a black woman.
His fingers, my servant!
So whoever wishes, let him witness his punishment, or rather, let him follow us to the plain of Mecca.
They disbelieved and died by the pen, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and greater.
Your Lord is now, O Bilal. Allah is my Lord.
My Lord, and Muhammad is my Prophet, and Islam is my religion.
Say! Will you disbelieve in these? Say! Say! Say!
You will remain like this until you die.
You will die or disbelieve in Muhammad and worship Al-Lat and Al-Uzza. One, one, one.
Muhammad was protected by his people among his family.
And you are in this now, so who is making you do it when you have no need for it? If you wish, you can stop yourself.
He has insulted Muhammad, and I am holding back.
Stop! Take your hands off her!
Has your servant not given you, O Abu Ali.
I have heard that people testify you will not stop until he gives you something of himself and insults Muhammad.
Tomorrow, tomorrow! And you.
Are your hands tired from beating the slaves, so you preferred to rest?
Did you not know that your clients Yasir al-Adasi, his wife Sumayya, and his son Ammar are following the religion of Muhammad?
The cursed slave.
How much I have suffered from him today.
Which of you is more exhausted than the other, my daughter?
It's as if I cannot get flesh from him like the flesh of other people.
Or are slaves like this, their skin thicker than ours.
And before today he was weak, unable to stand up to the boy of Jubayr ibn Mut'im, as much as it takes to milk a sheep.
So what has driven him today?
No, no, rather it is the magic of Muhammad ﷺ.
He bewitched him so that he does not know as people know. If only you had not made people witness against yourself and against him.
So they are watching to see which of you will give up first.
If he is patient and does not give you anything from himself, and then you stop out of weakness, it will be a disgrace.
And one of them said: The servant has won and defeated his master.
Then he became an example for the rest of the servants to follow, and he corrupted them for us.
And today I heard that wicked Abu al-Hakam. I will not be powerless.
I will not be powerless until he gives me.
Or he perishes.
So this is what you were about to confess to me, then you held back.
And I was overcome by doubt.
But I pushed it away by saying: What concern is it of a servant like me and someone like him, in matters the Arabs dispute over.
Woe to you, Wahshi, you still think with your skin, not your mind.
Yes, my skin that resembles yours, except that it has been flayed.
If you wished, you could have spared yourself what you are facing. If my skin is like yours, my heart is not like yours. Fool.
Crazy. Why are you doing this to me, Wahshi?
Why are you hiding from me when we are not even on good terms? If your master knew, he would not be pleased to see you with me right now.
Maybe I am just as foolish as you.
Isn't your slavery enough for you, that you want to add more to it?
You miserable one, but the truly miserable one is Umayyah ibn Khalaf.
And you? Me and Umayyah ibn Khalaf.
I am gathered with him on the same ground, should I be happy about this?
They are united in falsehood.
And I am united with Abu Bakr, Abdur Rahman ibn Awf, Uthman ibn Affan, and Ali ibn Abi Talib in truth.
And I truly meant this. You and those people are the same.
By Allah, as I said, you are a fool.
These people have accepted Islam, so have you seen any of them being tortured as you are?
Then you invite me to your religion so that I might face what you face.
You should be more patient than I am, since you are stronger than me.
This is what puzzled me today. How did you endure all that torture?
And I never saw such determination in you before now. Islam, Wahshi.
Iman, don't you understand? I only understand that you are a slave like me, except that you are tortured and I am not.
No, by the One who sent Muhammad ﷺ with the truth, today I found myself freer than Umayyah ibn Khalaf.
Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, are they better or the Lord of Muhammad?
No one, no one. Rather, Al-Lat and Al-Uzza.
Disbelieve in Muhammad and relieve yourself from this.
No one, no one. May you be cursed, you omen of misfortune.
Our servants and our freed slaves.
Their best is for us.
And it is an honor for us. We have protected you and kept you safe.
And we have fed you, but
And we have married you.
Then you abandon our opinion and follow Muhammad.
Is this the best way you repay kindness, you ungrateful ones?
So either you return.
Or we destroy you, so choose.
Even you?
Even you, foolish, clumsy, black woman.
And you used to carry the dough for us.
And you never looked at any of us in the face.
By Allah, I will disgrace you. May Allah disgrace you, enemy of Allah.
Leave her, leave her and kill me.
That is easier for you.
But do not destroy yourself until you see what I do to her.
Or you all return and insult Muhammad.
May the curse of Allah be upon you, enemy of Allah, for your foolishness, obscenity, and lack of honor, and you have forgotten anger.
Be patient. Be patient, mother.
How do you feel now?
The hell that Muhammad threatens us with.
Is it hotter, or is this earth and this rock hotter?
One, One.
Mention al-Lat and al-Uzza.
Just mention them, I don't want more than that.
One, One.
You don't have to insult Muhammad.
Just mention al-Lat and al-Uzza as you mention your God.
Just one word, and these people will let you go.
One! One!
It is only one word, just say al-Uzza.
I can't. Al-Lat and al-Uzza are not heavy, the heavy one is the truth.
It is this rock. My tongue cannot say it well. Listen, Bilal.
Did you not know that none of your companions.
is tested with what you are being tested with.
except that he is given so that the punishment is lightened for him.
