I see nothing for you except to ease the harm here against the Companions of Muhammad, and then, when our trade goes there to the land of Abyssinia.

Some of us reassured them with words that pleased them from us and encouraged them to return.

And our ally in that is a person's love for his homeland.

By Allah, you are not more beloved to Mecca than they are, except that you have forced them.

You, O Mudhammam! Won't you stop this?

Didn't I forbid you from this? Didn't I forbid you from this?

Was it not enough for you that you left our religion, divided our community, misled our fathers, and insulted our gods?

Then you also corrupted our sons, our brothers, our slaves, and our allies.

And you have done every disgraceful thing, even to the point of putting your face on the ground in prayer before our eyes.

And Quraysh has never known anyone more severe or more ominous than you.

So if you must, then leave us and relieve us from your trouble.

We have come to hate it.

If I see you here again, I will smash your head with a stone.

You are a curse. You are a curse.

As for 'Amara, if you saw what your nephew Muhammad faced from Hakam ibn Hisham, you would have found him sitting there.

He harmed him, insulted him, and did to him what he hates, then left him and Muhammad did not speak to him. Did he do this? Yes, by my Lord.

Welcome, Abu 'Amara. Do you insult him while I am on his religion? Should I say what he says? Come, Abu 'Amara.

By Allah, I have insulted his nephew with a terrible insult.

This is what I forbade you from. He was not on the religion of his nephew.

His nephew until I pushed him to him forcefully. He only said it out of tribal pride, and if he does not turn back, he will persist in it.

We did not send down the Quran to you to cause you hardship.

It is only a reminder for those who fear Allah.

A revelation from Him who created the earth and the highest heavens.

The Most Merciful, established above the Throne.

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth and whatever is between them.

And who spent the night beneath the soil.

And if you speak aloud, He knows the secret and what is even more hidden.

Allah, there is no deity except Him.

To Him belong the most beautiful names.

Quraysh fled from this.

Indeed, I am Allah, there is no deity except Me.

So worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.

I almost conceal it so that every soul may be recompensed for what it strives for.

So do not let anyone who does not believe in it turn you away from it.

And follows his own desires and then falls.

Al-Khattab. Did he really say that? By Allah, he did say it.

By Allah, you are the better of the two men.

What is with you? Did you not know that I have accepted Islam?

What did you say? I have accepted Islam. What are you doing? In fact, I have done it.

By Allah's right.

And what you have brought is disgraceful.

Umar. Did you not know that I have accepted Islam.

O people, know that I have accepted Islam and testified that there is no deity except Allah.

And that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. And you have come to judge over our religion? By Allah, we will make you taste what you made those before you taste.

Ibn al-Khattab has left his religion. What! Should we go and choose a religion for ourselves?

Do you think that Banu Adi will hand over their companion to you? Have you forgotten that we, Banu Sahm, are allies of Adi?

So whatever happens to one of them, has happened to us.

Disperse! Disperse!

You had no need for this, couldn't you have kept it to yourself?

I do not conceal the truth when I know it, and I will not confuse the truth.

The truth and falsehood, just as Allah separated night and day.

Umar, we did not think that. By Allah, my assumption was correct. I thought he would accept Islam.

We were talking with him that day about Muhammad and his people.

Me, you, Safwan, Umair, and Ikrimah.

And I was looking at your faces and wondering.

If some of us were to become Muslim one day, who among us would be the first? And I said: Umar.

He is not wealthy like our fathers, pleased with his wealth.

And his clan does not listen to our poetry.

Especially Abd Shams, Jumah, and Sahm.

And your people, Banu Makhzum, so they envy Banu Hashim that a Prophet would come from among them.

And he is independent in his opinion from his father al-Khattab.

Abu al-Khattab is not like your father or mine.

Or Umayyah ibn Khalaf, and he is more knowledgeable than those who took the lead in deciding about Muhammad among our elders.

He is softer in heart than them, and more open to new things.

And further from being dominated by old traditions.

And above all that, he is Umar, his inner self is like his outward appearance.

He does not become harsh without becoming gentle. He did not oppose Muhammad for any of the reasons those elders had.

But he followed his own opinion, and if another view appeared to him, he did not hold back, nor did anything weigh him down from a purpose that concerned him, or a benefit he could gain.

Nor any harm he feared.

Mecca after the Islam of Umar.

Was not the same as Mecca before him. By Allah, Muhammad and his Companions were honored.

First Hamza, then Umar.

Come to me, people.

Come to me, O sons of Adi. I had forbidden you from following Muhammad.

And I harmed some of you because of that.

When you were in ignorance, misguidance, and blindness.

And indeed, Allah will make His religion prevail.

So do not let others surpass you in doing good.

Then you will sit afterwards, regretting it.

And I ask you by Allah and by the ties of kinship.

Whoever I have harmed or struck,

let him come forward and take his right from me.

And let him take justice and retribution. Who dares? So I can clear myself of sin.

Or he can forgive, for Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving, and my heart is open to whoever wishes.

As for me, I have forgiven.

So whoever among you wishes, let him forgive.

We have forgiven.

O Messenger of Allah, are we not upon the truth whether we live or die? Then why should we hide?

By the One Who sent you with the truth, you will surely go out, and we will pray at the Sacred House of Allah, and we will anger the enemies of Allah until they despair of their falsehood and leave us alone.

There is no deity but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. There is no deity but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Do not do it.

Two rows like these, in them are Umar and Hamza.

It is not appropriate for Hakim or Salit to approach them.

And that the religion of Allah, we call to 'There is no god but Allah' and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

He testifies inside.

No, Abu al-Hakam.

We have tried what you are calling us to; we have been beaten, harmed, and imprisoned, but we have not achieved anything.

And the call of Muhammad has gone out from this village to the Arabs.

As for Umar, many embraced Islam when he did, for they knew him as the ambassador of Quraysh, its defender, and its strong man who is never defeated.

So why do they not listen to him and take from him?

If we criticize him in front of them, they will not believe us, and we had already put him forward before that.

The opinion is that we change our approach, and remain quiet about Muhammad and his companions, even if only for a while.

Perhaps with gentleness we will achieve what we could not achieve with harshness.

And we have debated him before about his claim to prophethood.

But we did not try to challenge him in order to embarrass him in front of the people.

Does he not claim that he is sent by Allah, supported by revelation?

Then let him show us some signs if he is among the truthful.

Ask him to cause springs and flowing rivers to burst forth for you from the earth.

And to make gardens of palm trees and grapes upon them.

We are in a land with little water and few crops, or He could send down upon us pieces.

Just as people describe the Day of Judgment. He is speaking about Allah and the angels.

Then let him bring them all so we can see them.

And he is among the least of us in wealth, so why does he not ask his Lord to make for him a house of gold?

So what do you say? We asked your companion for things.

But he did not bring any of them.

And he claims that he is sent by Allah. Those are the signs you wanted to challenge him with.

If he brought you some of them or all of them, would you believe?

No, by the One who sent Muhammad with the truth, you would not have done so.

Instead, you would have said: This is magic, our eyes have been bewitched. And indeed, previous messengers came with similar signs.

Those who witnessed them disbelieved in them, so what about those who were absent from them?

You tell me, you have mixed with the Jews of Yathrib.

And you have heard from them about the miracles of Musa, his staff, and the parting of the sea for him. Did Pharaoh and his people who witnessed them believe in him, and did you?

Did you believe in him and enter the religion of the Jews after you heard about it from them? Or did you say: We did not witness it, it is nothing but tales of the ancients?

By Allah, you are not denying him, but rather,

it is arrogance, people.

When Allah wills to destroy a people,

He sends them signs like the ones they ask for.

If they disbelieve in them after witnessing them,

He takes them away.

Those were 'Aad and Thamud. They disbelieved in the signs of Allah after seeing them with their own eyes and were warned by them.

So Allah destroyed them, and nothing remained of them except their traces.

So take heed. Take heed, O people of understanding.

Where have you come from, my Arab brother? From the dwellings of Khuza'ah.

And how did you leave Mecca? It's as if you are asking about Quraysh, Muhammad, and his Companions.

I found no evil between the people and their leader. Hamza has accepted Islam, and then Umar ibn al-Khattab.

Are you really saying that? Hamza.

And Umar? Yes, and many people accepted Islam after Umar.

Many people.

And you say you didn't find any harm in Mecca? As if the people have become calm.

In fact, I think they have all accepted Islam, or most of them.

What? Hamza? And how do we know that the man has truly told you the truth and not lied, or maybe he was mistaken.

The man was in Mecca, and this is not the kind of news where there could be a mistake.

As for me, I will return if Allah wills.

So if it is as the brother of Khuza'ah said, then that is what should be and what we hope for.

And if it is not as he said, then we will consider our opinion at that time.

And I would not be pleased to remain separated from the Messenger of Allah, even if I were in the best place on earth.
