Honorable sheikh, what is a woman allowed to uncover of her body in front of other women?
A woman must wear the proper Islamic clothing that covers her.
The clothing of the women of the sahaba, as stated by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyya and others.
From the wrist to the ankle.
In their homes, but when they go out,
they wore long garments.
It extends a handspan beyond their feet.
And the Prophet ﷺ allowed them up to a forearm's length.
In order to cover her feet.
This is regarding the working woman.
If she becomes pure from postpartum bleeding.
Then she is among those who are clothed yet naked.
As for the woman who is looking,
it is not permissible for her to look at the 'awrah of another woman.
That means she should not look at the area between the navel and the knee.
For example, if a woman is relieving herself,
then it is not allowed for another woman to look at her.
As for what is above the navel or below the knee.
And the woman has uncovered it.
For a need, such as she lifted her garment from her leg.
Because she is passing through mud, for example, or she wants to wash her leg.
And there is another woman with her, this is not a problem.
Or she exposed her breast to nurse her child.
As for women, there is no problem.
But for us to say, as some ignorant women understand,
that the meaning is that a woman wears clothes that cover
between the chest and the knee, this is wrong, a great mistake against the Book of Allah, the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, the law of Allah, and the predecessors of this umma.
Whoever says that the three garments, the trousers, cover from the navel to the knee,
and this is the clothing of Muslim women.
It is not possible. A woman must wear loose clothing.
The one responsible worships.
As for another woman looking, she may look at the limb, she may look at the chest, she may look at the leg.
But she is not allowed to look at what is between the navel and the knee. If a woman lifts her garment, the other should not look at what is between the navel and the knee.
