It presents us with a model of categories; among them are those who believe.
That faith is only a statement, like the Karramiyyah, and among them are those who believe it is merely knowledge, like the Jahmiyyah.
And some believe it is statement and affirmation, like the Murji'at al-fuqaha, as mentioned by al-Tahawi in his creed.
All of these are wrong, all of them are mistaken. The correct view held by Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah is that faith is statement and action.
And it is expressed by the tongue, and the actions of the heart and limbs as mentioned before. It increases with obedience and decreases with sin; this is the view of Ahl al-Sunnah.
And what is indicated by the Book of Allah and the sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ.
As the Verheven en Hoog is Hij said in His clear Book.
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but righteousness is for those who believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets.
And who give wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, and the traveler.
And to those who ask, and for freeing slaves, and who establish prayer and give zakah, and those who fulfill their promises when they make them.
And those who are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle—those are the ones who are truthful, and those are the people of taqwa. So all of this is truthfulness, all of it is actions, all of it is iman, all of it is taqwa.
There are many verses about this, including the saying of the Prophet ﷺ to the delegation of Abd al-Qays: I command you to have iman in Allah, then he explained that as testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
And establishing prayer, giving zakat, fasting Ramadan, and giving one-fifth. And he ﷺ said: Iman has over sixty branches.
Or the most important of them is the statement "There is no god but Allah."
And the lowest of them is removing harm from the road, and modesty is a branch of iman. So he made the statement "There is no god but Allah," which is a statement, the best of iman, the best of the branches.
And he made modesty one of the branches of iman.
And he made removing harm from the road one of the branches of iman.
Likewise, prayer, fasting, striving in the way of Allah, and other acts are all branches of iman.
It is statement and action as mentioned before: a statement of the heart and the tongue, and actions of the heart and the limbs.
It increases with acts of obedience and decreases with sins, as mentioned before. Yes.
