In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Honorable Sheikh, may Allah protect you.
Some women miscarry after two or three months.
They stop praying and other acts, considering it postpartum bleeding.
What is the ruling on this after about thirty years have passed?
Or a little less or a little more, and what is the period that determines postpartum bleeding?
The question at the beginning is ambiguous. The phrase "miscarry the fetus," does it mean that it is expelled?
Is it from itself, or is she trying to make it fall? No, it falls by itself, may Allah protect you. It means it falls by itself. It means she gets hurt. Yes. The scholars, may Allah have mercy on them, say.
Postnatal bleeding is only established if the fetus shows human features.
That is, if its hand, leg, and head are distinct.
If it falls, then the blood that comes out with it is postnatal bleeding.
But before the features are formed, it is not postnatal bleeding.
And it is known that features cannot form before eighty days have passed.
In the narration of Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us, and he is the truthful and trusted one.
He said: One of you is created in his mother's womb for forty days, then he becomes a clot for the same period, meaning forty days.
Then he becomes a lump for the same period.
And it is known that the lump, as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said in the Quran, then from a lump formed and unformed.
And the stage of the fetus does not reach the lump except after the completion of eighty days.
So if a woman knows when the pregnancy began, and that less than eighty days have passed, then it is not postpartum bleeding.
And now the question is: two months have passed, and two months.
That is sixty days, so this blood that appeared is not considered postnatal bleeding.
She is only required to make up the missed prayers.
And if she is ignorant and does not know, then nothing is required of her, neither making up the prayers nor anything else.
