How it works

Live in three steps

No installation, no technical setup in the hall. If the phone and the screen have internet, it works.

1

Phone next to the speaker

Open the secret phone link on an ordinary smartphone and tap start. The phone listens to the khutbah.

2

Live AI translation

The spoken Arabic is recognised instantly and translated into fluent, natural language.

3

Large screen in the mosque

Open the screen link on a TV, projector or laptop. The translation appears large and readable, sentence by sentence.

Why

No one should have to miss the khutbah

In many mosques the khutbah is delivered in Arabic, while a growing part of the congregation understands little or none of it. The message of the week passes them by.

  • Young people who grew up here and mainly speak the local language
  • New Muslims who do not know Arabic yet
  • Visitors and guests with a different mother tongue
With a screen next to the minbar, everyone reads along in their own language, at the moment it is being said. The imam does not have to do anything differently.

Features

Made for the mosque

Not a general translation app, but a service built around the khutbah and the mosque board.

Familiar Islamic terminology

Terms and common expressions are translated the way the community knows them, not stiffly word for word.

Protection against made-up text

During silence, noise or unclear audio the screen shows nothing rather than something that was not said.

Own mosque page and archive

Every translated khutbah is saved. Show it together with prayer times and activities on your own mosque page.

Up to 5 board members

Each board member logs in with their own email address. If the imam is away, someone else can take over.

Secured phone link

Only someone with the secret link can start the microphone. Phone lost? Create a new link with one click.

Pause when needed

Does the speaker switch to another language for a moment? Pause the translation and resume as soon as it is Arabic again.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

What do we need?

A smartphone with internet next to the speaker, and a screen in the hall that can show a web page: a smart TV, a projector, or a TV with a laptop connected. Nothing needs to be installed.

How good is the translation?

The translation is made by artificial intelligence and is generally fluent and easy to follow. It is not flawless: unclear audio, names or special terms can go wrong. See the translation as an aid; the words of the speaker always take precedence. That is why we suggest trying it first with the free trial credit.

What happens to the recording?

The audio is streamed live for translation and is not stored by us. Only the translated text is kept in your mosque's archive. Read more in the privacy statement (in Dutch).

Which languages can it translate into?

From Arabic into English, Dutch, French or German. You set one target language per mosque.

What if the internet drops for a moment?

The phone reconnects automatically and the session stays open briefly, so the translation simply continues. A stable Wi-Fi or 4G connection next to the speaker is important, though.

How does payment work?

In the dashboard you take out a subscription or buy credits, paying with iDEAL. A subscription is then debited automatically every month; you can cancel monthly. Usage is deducted per session, from start to stop, first from the monthly hours and then from credits. Credits do not expire. Details are in the terms and conditions (Dutch).

Who has access to the account?

Whoever registers the mosque is the owner and can add up to four other board members. Everyone logs in through a link sent by email, without a password.

Is this a Friday sermon translator?

Yes. Khotba Translate is a translator for the Friday sermon (also called khutbah or khotba): the sermon is translated live and appears on a screen in the mosque and on visitors' phones. Friday sermon translation →

Do we also get our own website?

Yes, a simple mosque page is included for affiliated mosques (with a subscription or purchased credits): prayer times, live translation, translated khutbahs, activities, donations and contact, in your language and in Arabic. You fill it in yourselves from the dashboard, even during the trial. For a full custom website, Sanadyn can help, with a mosque discount. See an example →
